My 5 Friday food favs – Edition #8!
I thought it would be interesting to share some of my favorite food items/ideas to date! Some healthy and well, some not so healthy! If I had to take a limited number of non-perishable food items with me on a deserted island, these will be in my bag!
Skippy Peanut Butter – I LOVE Skippy peanut butter! The creaminess of it and oh the taste…I often take a tablespoon full and eat it as a snack! Did you know too, peanut butter also helps get rid of hiccups? Plain, on pb&j, with celery, apples, I love it all!
Rice Chex Cereal – I am OBSESSED with cereal! I would seriously eat cereal for every meal if it was healthy for me! In reality though, it is, but I suppose I should expand my food choices on a daily basis. After surgery, I lived off of cereal! I love any cereal, as long as it’s not too sugary. I can sometimes do fruity pebbles, but I am a bland girl. Give me cheerios, krispies, bran flakes, etc., and I’ll be all set! I typically have at least two bowls of cereal a day, if not 3! One at breakfast, one for lunch or snack, and then typically another at night. Needless to say, I get my fill…
Queso – Oh cheese…our poor daughter LOVES cheese too, but can’t have too much b/c otherwise it constipates her! We love our block cheese, shredded cheese, string cheese, and I personally, am a lover of queso! Of course it’s not a great heart-healthy choice, but in moderation (which is hard), I figure it’s okay! Qdoba’s queso? YUM. Store bought? Just fine! Me and queso get along GREAT, in case you were wondering…
Pretzels – Pretzels are one of those things that is such a great grab and go snack! It is light, tasty, and not completely horrible for you! Our daughter loves them too, which makes a great snack!
Boomchickapop Popcorn – If you have not had Angie’s boomchickapop, you are missing OUT! Hands down, best popcorn and you can eat it basically guilt free! Now in saying that, I feel I should put a disclaimer in here – you can’t eat the whole bag! Now, I challenge you not to in one sitting! The popcorn is incredibly tasty, for the most part, good for you, and when you can find it on sale, STOCK UP! One of my favorite stores, Aldi, has been known to carry it, so that’s when I buy 3-4 bags! It is a special treat, but oh it is just so good! And…yes, our daughter loves it too!
