We are living in our DREAM house! Dan and I often talk about how we LOVE where we live! We are so close to everything, yet it is quiet. Yeah there are things we would change about this house, but even if we built our “dream” house, I know there are things we would still want/change. We would like a garage instead of a carport, but at least we have something. It is a small house, 1050 sq. ft., with 2 bedrooms. One more bedroom would be nice so that we could have more than just a single bed stuffed in an office, but at least we have 2 bedrooms! Storage space is minimal, but it keeps our life simple. If we had another bedroom, I know we would just clutter it with more stuff. So, with the size of our house, we are almost “required” to live a simple/non-cluttered life b/c there is no where to go with the stuff :). And THAT is the type of lifestyle we want – simple and not living above our means. If we don’t have kids, I can’t say we would ever move.
This is what our house looks like now! If you scroll to the bottom of this post, you will see a picture of the outside (left) of our house when we bought it – not gonna lie, I think we have done a LOT to it since then!
Click here to see a few pictures of our dream house. It is what the inside of it looks like now. AND, compare it with the pictures below! These pictures were taken when we were looking at buying our house back in January 2006.
This picture is of a wall that no longer exists. You can see the fridge to the left and a doorway. We basically took out the wall, filled IN the doorway with drywall, and now have a big archway. Compare it with pictures #1 and #4 in the link of the view from our living room and you’ll get the picture.
This is looking into our dining room, from the living room. Compare with picture #1 from link above. We have added just a tiny bit of color into our house 🙂 and a BIG chalkboard!
This is our living room – check out picture #2 – quite a difference!
Compare with picture #5
We were thinking it’d be cool to use that Christmas-looking tree as our Christmas tree the first year – but we got rid of that sucker pretty quickly!
It’s amazing what a coat of paint can do to a house! We have a lot of our college furniture yet, but it seems to go well with our house, so we might as well stick with it for a little bit yet. Our house is SO perfect for youth ministry (that is one reason why we bought it). It has a very open floor plan for the size house it is, and in the main rooms, you always can see what’s going on. A bigger kitchen table is on the list of things to get in the future because we LOVE to have people over for supper. Basically we love to have people over in general :).
God has blessed us so richly with a WONDERFUL house and with the ability to have a house. We LOVE it here :)! BTW, Dan is doing an EXCELLENT job at making our grass look top notch! It was a disaster when we moved in b/c apparently they had an estate sale and cars were parked up on it. But it is looking good I must say!
