A Dinner Table Conversation
I love “family” meals.

Balance. That is what I seem to lack often in life. I put this weight on my own shoulders, having this can-do attitude, but lack the balance behind it all. I feel a though the Christian life, a life that is devoted to God, is a call to balance. You may find this to be…
Who would’ve ever thought that oatmeal would be one of those “common use” items in your household? Only if you knew how to use it, right? I love oatmeal in the cold winters here in the north! I would consider it a comfort food for the winter blues. Instead of just eating it, now you…
As women, many of us have this nagging and constant tapping on the shoulder, telling us we need to do more. And more. Telling us we need to go to this. Telling us we need to make that. Telling us we need to look like this. Telling us we need to commit to that. Telling…
Do you ever get that feeling? The urge to purge? Unfortunately, I get that feeling all too often and wonder how in the world I still have things I can get rid of? Being someone who enjoys living life with less, it amazes me really how much I still have. How easily I slip into…

We are content on a school teacher's salary. I have learned that a lamp or table picked up at the thrift store and redone with things I have on hand is far more satisfying than something picked out from a furniture catalog. Also, I wouldn't trade the time we spend together doing these little projects for anything else I can think of. Good for you, sweet Kristin; and thank you for the encouragement.
Mary, you are SO right – it is WAY more satisfying to DIY than buy! One of the biggest my husband and I have tackled is redoing the complete inside of our fishing boat. It was a marriage tester I must say, but when we were finished, it is the thing we are most proud of. I love your perspective Mary and thank you for yet again, sharing your words of wisdom :)!
