  1. When my husband was in the Christian school ministry, I kept book after book of photos. (They'd never rank up to what we now call a scrapbook!) But when he retired, we discovered they'd been taken from his office. I was devastated; after all, that's how I thought we would remember all the kids over 23 years. He said something to me that I will never forget. "Our ministry to these kids can't be measured in a picture. We measure our success in ministry by kids who grow up to be lovers of God, good parents, and positive contributors to society. The pictures are paper." He's been retired now for 11 years, and are still in touch with some of those amazing human beings. The person who has those pictures can't say that.

    1. Thank you so much for sharing this story Mary! I LOVE what your husband said and he is so right! Pictures are so temporary – but what makes an eternal difference, isn't. What a compliment to you two, that you still keep in touch with some of the students – that says you have made a tremendous impact on them. How beautiful Mary! You have such wonderful insight and I appreciate your words!

  2. I gave up scrapbooking too. I was really into it when I was in college, and I made some great scrapbooks of trips to Europe and other events… but then I got tired of it. I gave away or sold all but my most basic supplies, and I plan to use those for much more basic scrapbooks I want to make of my family history. As for you, it had gotten to be a burden for me. It felt good to let it go 🙂

    1. Isn't that a good feeling to rid your life of the things that are holding you back from what you really want to do? Such a good feeling! It does feel so to let go! Proud of you and keep it up!

  3. try using Project Life- its what I use to scrapbook now and it is the perfect solution to giving up spending on all the paper and embellishments but still having my photos and memories organized and available to view and treasure for years- super easy no thought involved – i love it and i will never look back to traditional scrapbooking- best of both worlds- check out http://www.beckyhiggins.com for more info 🙂 seriously life changing!!

  4. This is exactly how I've been feeling for a couple of years now. Thank you for voicing this. I think it's time to let the hobby go as I've come to dread even thinking about it.

    1. Kelly, I am glad that you are now inspired to move on too! I feel like so often we feel obligated to keep doing something, but really, we will feel so much freer if we just give it up! The dread just isn't worth it :). Thanks for sharing Kelly!
