You May Not Have Thought Of…Silver Sharpie Labeling
It’s the phrase I say oh, too many times to count. You often hear of parents talking about how much patience it takes to parent. The sleep-less nights, the tantrums, the repeating of commands. I am sure you can think of one thing that takes a bit of patience. But have you ever thought about…
Call me strange, but I love the idea of moving. Granted this is coming from someone who has this odd love for organizing, purging, and living a simple life. And moving helps feed into all 3 of those passions. Over the past two weeks, I have started to scan our home and take a mental…
Do you ever walk into your home and wish you had less stuff? Do you ever read in your favorite home magazine about organizing, decluttering and living only with the minimal? I used to think about living with minimal constantly. I would scrounge our house looking for what else we could live without. The thing…
When some people hear the word “organizing,” their heart starts to race, their palms get sweaty, and they start to panic. They think “ah, I NEED to organize – my house is a disaster!” The same is said for purging. Even the thought of going through “stuff” creates feelings of shame, guilt, and anxiety. What if you…
Do you ever get that feeling? The urge to purge? Unfortunately, I get that feeling all too often and wonder how in the world I still have things I can get rid of? Being someone who enjoys living life with less, it amazes me really how much I still have. How easily I slip into…
photo source Choosing to do without, may seem like we would be missing out on something because we don’t HAVE something. Our culture is fulled with a constant influx of ideas on how to have more and MORE. More is the answer to having a successful and happy life – according to our culture’s standards….

That is awesome that you even labeled a chair – well, now you know where it is and no one can discreetly steal it! Love it and thanks for sharing!
This is genius. Thanks for the great tip! I took the advice and just silver sharpied my spices. Woot! Oh my goodness, this will save time and make it easy for everyone to see what they want. Great tip!!
Thank you! I am glad that you have been able to put this to use – it has made a HUGE difference in our home and it sounds like yours too 🙂
I really want to share how I do my spices, but it's sort of hard to explain. I'll give it a shot, and if you like the idea, I'll forward pix.
We took some trim 1/2"x2" and cut it to just under the width of a cabinet door. My sweetheart mounted them on the door with 1/2"x1/2" brackets. About an inch above the ends of each mounted piece of trim, he put a 2" metal bracket. Then we strung strong wire through the holes on the brackets, making a line between the two brackets just under an inch from the top of each piece of wood. That made a little retainer to hold the little plastic containers of spices–in alphabetical order. Make sense? I keep any extra amounts of each spice in the back of a bottom drawer, where nothing else ever goes. Works for us!
Hi Mary :). I would LOVE to see pictures of this! Even detailed pics of the basics to the finished product? I see a guest post coming soon ;)???? This sounds like a GREAT idea and a DIY project, which makes this even better! Let me know your thoughts 🙂
My Awesome Wonderful and I are traveling, and I'm just catching up with my posts. When we get back home, I'll do this very thing. Many who have seen this project have replicated it. So, yes, I'd love to help your other friends.
Awesome! Thank you Mary 🙂
