20 Days, 3 Ways, __ Bags: Hair and Make-Up Accessories
Have you ever thought that our very mornings can begin with stress because of our hair and make-up products? Do you have so much that you spend 30 seconds or even minutes deciding what to even use and put on?
What if your hair and make-up accessories were simple, organized, and easy to find? Would your morning begin more smoothly? Fewer items means fewer decisions, which means saving time. Below are a few ideas on how to clear out your unused accessories. I will say, often with hair and make-up products and accessories, you cannot really donate them, so you have to be okay to either recycling or disposing of them.
1. Decide how much you want to have. If you only want to use two eye shadows, that means you ought to get rid of the rest. If you have 3 different shades of lipstick, pick your favorite if you only want one. If you only want one hair product to put in, that means getting rid of the rest.
2. Look at your half-empty bottles or make-up. Have you stopped using the “old” and only using the new that you recently bought? If you think may never use it up, just get rid of it. It is only causing physical clutter and the need to make a decision in the morning of which one to use.
3. To prevent the above from happening, make sure to use up what you have, first, before buying something new.
4. Try purging of your hair accessories and make-up by creating a “travel bag.” Whatever you put in your travel bag, that is what you should keep for everyday use. Whatever is left, get rid of the rest. This has done wonders for me! If I wouldn’t take it with me on a trip, then why would I have it?
5. Decide what the essentials are. Much like your travel bag, you probably wouldn’t take something that is not a necessity.
6. Decide how much time you want to spend putting in your hair products and putting on your make up. Time is of the essence!
7. Think about how much you spend trying to find the “right” product. This is where the issue starts – we buy, and buy, and buy, trying to find what looks and feels best, to LOOK our best. Will you ever find it? I can’t answer that. If you find something that works, STICK WITH IT. Don’t keep searching for a “new” product.
It is easy to let clutter take over our cabinets. Don’t let indecision, the need to have the “right” item, and the need to look perfect, overtake your cupboards. Purge. Get rid of the unused and the non-essentials.
Start your morning off right – with as few decisions as possible!
