20 Favorite Things On Friday – Edition #13
Registering for a baby can be an overwhelming task. When you start to peruse the aisles of the store and realize just how much a baby or toddler can have, it is mind-boggling. Literally.
I remember my husband and I went to register at Target and realized a few minutes into it, we did not do our research, we had NO clue what a baby needed, and we left with just a few things on the registry. Thankfully I had a sister and some friends who had or recently had children, that offered some great advice!
Nevertheless, what didn’t change, was the fact that kids just have a lot of stuff. I suppose that we are in complete control of what comes in and out of our house, but I have found there to be some toys that I can’t imagine not having. Some simple, yet some more “techy”, but boy, have they been Mazy’s favorites. I will say too, I know that these items are not needed to raise a child. We live in a country where these toys are easily accessible, but really, all a child need is love and that sense of belonging!
What we have, is not what you should have, but I just thought it would be fun to share what Mazy’s favorite toys have been. So if you are looking for a gift to buy a newborn or for a 1st birthday, maybe these toys will give you just a few ideas.
A simple toy, but because it is a dog and it makes a little noise when you pull it around, she squeals every timeVTech Busy Learners Activity Cube
Lots of little things to do on this toyViolet
We have used this almost since day one. From the lullaby songs to the kids songs it plays, she loves giving Violet a lot of loving
Another simple, but timeless toy
Fisher Price Classic Record Player
Mazy received this for her first birthday and she dances every time we turn it on. Even more fun at times is taking the records in and out of the holder.
GREAT way to help your child walk, without having to break your back! Plus, plenty to do on this toy as well while sitting.
I would say this has been the item that I almost feel we can’t go without. My doctor had recommended getting this for Mazy when she was young. It is a paci connected to a small stuffed animal. “Wubs” has become that one item we cannot leave the house without!Farm Wooden Chunky Puzzle
Chunk puzzles help with motor skills, animal recognition, and the pieces are big enough that they can pick them up and hold them well.
Mazy’s favorite toy as a baby, besides her Wubs
Can be used in more places than just the bath!
Creativity central
This has entertained Mazy on numerous car rides!
As sad as it may sound, but Mazy knows how to use a phone because she watches my husband and I do it enough. Teaches about numbers, answering a phone, and Mazy sure knows to say “hello” when the phone rings now.
Great way to talk about family members and help with face recognition!
Timeless – from young to school age
3 Stage Super Seat
Better than the bumbo because it has the toys to play with, but also can set other things on it too.
When learning to stand and walk, this is a great tool, plus many activities to keep them entertained.
I would add this item as being good for the bath too!
Don’t know what we would do without a stuffed dog (though Mazy’s is all dark brown)
Again, these are some of the toys that Mazy has enjoyed and that we have found ourselves getting a lot of use out of. Fun, practical, and well-used, I must say!
