Around The Home
Last full week of January already? Hard to believe, isn’t it? Time flies when you are having fun though, right? I must say that going to rehab 3x a week has definitely made things a bit more busy, but all in a good way! I am feeling more and more like myself every week. Definitely am more tired, but I’m thinking that’s a good thing too. We have been enjoying life and am just so thankful FOR life! Here’s what’s been going on this past week…
The SNOTput at youth group! Who can shout a Trix out of their nose, the farthest? Yes, we all blew our noses before hand…
In our dining room, we only had a lamp for light, which made it quite dark in this room. If you’ve dined with us at night, you would know what we are talking about! We wanted to do the updated version of light these days and do canned lighting, but then Dan thought, why don’t we just put a hanging light in the room, to replace the fan/light combo that no longer worked (the fan did, just not the light). So, we bought a “chandelier” from Menards and what a different world it is in there now! I can see the actual pieces of the puzzle at night and can see what I am eating! Love my handyman Dan!
Mazy wanted me to in her words “take pictures…” so we got all dressed up for me! This is a halloween costume that was in her closet. Must say, she is one adorable girl! Not that I am biased or anything…
Laptime at our local library! So thankful I can finally attend again and am HEALTHY!
Mazy’s big thing now is playing mom or pretending. She loves to be a mom to her little stuffed animals! Here they were thirsty…
And now hungry, so she rolled up some playdough for them to eat!
And she wanted a picture with her stuffed animals – no worry sweetie, I will be keeping this one for the books!
On Friday night, we were invited to play in a Euchre tournament with some friends, but it had been almost a decade I think since we had played last! So here we are, brushing up on our skills via YouTube!
Visiting our friend after she had her wisdom teeth out! Mazy had no trouble keeping her company!
Dan made Mazy a little squirrel feeder outside our bay window in our dining room. So glad to come from a farmer’s family because corn therefore is not hard to come by! Glad there were some ears lying in the fields yet!
Living out a bit of our Minnesota roots, by going to Pizza Ranch! As you can see, Mazy was quite excited to be there as well!
Saturday night we took the youth group to a Grand Rapid’s Griffins hockey game. Seats were great, game was awesome, and we had a blast!
Our little swimmer asks almost daily if the pool is open. When I tell her no, she puts on her SPF shirt and bottoms, and sets up a “pool” according to her imagination, in our living room.
One thing I have learned is that I can be a stickler and try to keep the chaos at bay, but often it is not worth it. I may go through a few more wipes in a day due to her changing her stuffed animal’s diaper or go through 3 pairs of clothes, but at the end of the day, it is all worth it!
This week Thursday I go in for a check-up at U of M, to talk about my medications and see how I am doing. I am eager to hear what they have to say, as I am aware I still have some heart issues and a rib that is popping out of place yet. For a rib I know you can’t do much, but what are their thoughts? With the frequency of my extra beats, what is the prognosis or thoughts behind them? I think for both of those questions, time will tell, but it will be nice to also get some answers too. I now don’t dread going back, but am ready to keep running the race with this heart condition. Every week that goes by, I am more and more accepting of the fact that this will just be my life, for the rest of my life. We had hopes of it being put on the way side after my first surgery, but God had and HAS a different plan. We won’t know what it all entails, but I am working on accepting it more and more every week. Daily I can get frustrated at times, but weekly, I look back, and stand in awe of where I am today. Those days of being unable to walk, eat, and barely breathe on my own, are not far from my mind. They are daily reminders that when I go to rehab and am able to increase my intensity, drink water and eat a snack on the way home, and take a breath in of fresh air without oxygen, well, it’s an incredible gift that I never want to lose sight up!
I look forward to giving you an update after Thursday!
