Celebrating National Toasted Marshmallow Day With Wayfair!
With summer coming to a close, something that never gets old are s’mores. Am I right? I feel like there is always time for a s’more! And what I love about s’mores, is that there are so many ways to make ’em – that ooey gooey goodness!
With today being National Toasted Marshmallow Day (who knew there was one?), I am partnering with Wayfair to share with you my favorite s’more recipe (it’s as easy peasy as it can get), but even more so, I’m excited to share how we have revamped our whole fire pit area, so that we can make our s’mores in style!
So this is what our fire pit used to look like. Sad, really! It was a dirt square, with landscaping bricks set up in a circle to encase the fire. That was it.
Then thanks to Wayfair, I received the opportunity to get a fire pit in celebration of National Toasted Marshmallow Day, and oh did that get the wheels spinning! This is something we had been talking about for quite some time (really, since we bought our house a year ago), but didn’t know how we wanted to revamp the area.
We love to have fires and make s’mores, but one thing that we dislike about having fires, is that you walk away smelling like it, which isn’t always a bad smell, but it sticks with ya! And with a 3 year old, you just never know what sparks are going to fly. So we were thinking we wanted to get a propane fire pit, and then we found THE perfect pit by Wildon Home! It has a stone look, but is made out of fiberglass. So, it is quite light, which makes it easy to move to a different location if needed – a huge bonus in our books! Plus, it lets off just the right amount of heat, without overwhelming marshmallow roasters!
So after receiving the fire pit, we decided to put down pavers over the dirt, to create a solid ground to sit on, and then expanded our landscaping lights to go around the back of the garage and onto the fence. Now we have a little private area to have a fire – a place to solve all the problems in life!
Now to the fun part – the S’MORE! I am a simple gal when it comes to s’mores! My one KEY ingredient that I love to add to make a s’more taste like a Reese’s, is to spread a good layer of peanut butter on the bottom cracker first. Then, put the half of a Hershey bar on top of that, the roasted mallow, then the other graham cracker. Peanut butter is the simplest of ingredients, but makes a world of difference when you take that first bite! You could even try it with crunchy peanut butter, to add a whole new crunch feeling!
Here’s our 3 year old daughter, Mazy, helping me prep the marshmallows!
And now we don’t have to worry about sparks coming our way while roasting!
Thankfully Mazy is fearful of fires, so no need to worry about this sweetie touching the hot flames! Mazy kept telling me, “Mommy, don’t burn the smarshmallow” as she calls them!
Getting that perfect roast! And what I consider a perfect roast, isn’t that golden-all-over look. I like it JUST warm enough so that when I smash it between the crackers, it doesn’t seep all over. As long as when I smash it, it almost reaches the edges, that is good enough for me! When it is golden brown, it can sometimes get extremely messy! That’s why I stick with the “just warm” idea.
That is THE perfect s’more in my book! It’s not going to ooze all over when I bite into it, the peanut butter is just gooey enough so that it melts in your mouth, and the marshmallow isn’t burned one iota!
And here Mazy is, reading to devour it!
Thanks again to Wayfair for helping us make s’more-making that much more enjoyable on this National Toasted Marshmallow Day! Happy roasting!
