Our week was filled with many activities and happenings! The sun was out a FEW days this week, which I feel is unusual for West Michigan! Couple it of course with a thunderstorm, rain, and snow, but it felt so great to get outside more this week!

We also celebrated Mazy’s 4th birthday this past Sunday, which I will be doing a separate post about. What a FUN week celebrating! Oh to experience birthdays through the eyes of a child! Don’t they make life simple? And make you want to slow down and enjoy the moment? I am so thankful to have a daughter who teaches me those valuable lessons in life, constantly.

On Tuesday, it was absolutely gorgeous so Mazy biked and I walked, downtown and stopped whenever we wanted. She had to remind me that there was an Elsa costume at one of the stores that she would LOVE someday (little did she know she was getting one for her birthday!)

Mazy said to me, “Mom, look! NO HANDS!” (She has training wheels :)). Then moments later she asked me, “Mom? How does God get babies out of Mommy’s tummys?” Hmm…made for a spontaneous conversation about babies in the middle of the sidewalk!

Cheering on my old high school, Unity Christian, at the Quarterfinal…and I’ll take a moment to say they ended up winning STATE on Saturday! First State basketball championship in the school’s history (they also won state in football and soccer…AMAZING!)

Saturday we headed down to St. Joseph to help Dan’s parents pack up to move. What a fun day Mazy had with her cousins! Looks like a pretty relaxed day for her…

Just wanted to give an update on my health as well:

So almost 3 weeks ago, I had surgery to implant an ICD. I am feeling much more like myself again, which feels great. I still can’t lay on that side, am a little limited yet, and have some discomfort, but I am very pleased with the recovery! As the swelling goes down, there is quite a bulge and it feels quite strange, but I am so at peace. There is much comfort knowing that when I walk every minute of my life being at a severely high risk of going into cardiac arrest, and I now have a device to shock my heart back into rhythm, puts me at so much ease!

I will have one more surgery on May 22, to blast away all of those extra beats that my heart has, called ablations. I have to go off of one of my meds this week, which will cause all of those extra beats to come back, and not make me feel well, but we are hoping the transition is smooth and that I feel better than I did in September, when all of those extra beats were discovered. As much as I dread it, I do have the calmness that is only God-given, knowing HE KNOWS and will help us get through that time. And maybe it will go better than we think too. God is a miracle-worker! After that surgery, hopefully that will be my last surgery for awhile! This body needs a break from all of the tests, procedures, and surgeries!
