God Cares About Our Dreams
When I dreamed of having a child/children, I remember dreaming about this very day. The day I would send my child off to school for the first time. And on Wednesday, that day was a reminder that God cares about our dreams. Even dreams from YEARS ago. Because that dream came true.
We are so humbled that we are able to send Mazy to the school we are – the school that is literally right around the corner from our house! A school that loves Jesus and a school that I know will love Mazy for who she is. A school that we pray will give Mazy the confidence to keep embracing who she is and the circumstances God has allowed in her little life as well. Her journey hasn’t been easy. The anxiety, emotional frustrations, and tears brings me to tears, knowing that my heart disease has not been easy on that sweet little girl. But we know God’s timing is perfect and this year was the perfect year for her to start. And there is no question about that, after looking at these pictures!
Mazy had been BEGGING me to make cupcakes with her, so why not do it right away in the morning? With orange frosting?
All morning Mazy seemed a little nervous, but about 20 minutes before we had to leave, she was couldn’t WAIT to go! Looking forward to looking back each year at these school sheets to see how Mazy has grown! Just look at that smile…

When I saw our family picture in Mazy’s classroom, there is obviously only one child in it. Mazy. But that picture truly says 1,000 words! This picture below is a picture of beauty from ashes. Life hasn’t always been easy, but THESE are the moments that bring us so much joy – the moments God uses to remind us of His goodness!

When we picked Mazy up from school on Wednesday, she told us all about her day, and how she only had 2 more sleeps until she went to school again. And she had to add, “Mommy, I had more fun at school than if I was at home with you…” Yup, thanks honey! Honestly though, that was an answer to prayer. Minutes before walking into the room, her grip on me became tighter and tighter. I asked her if she was nervous and she agreed. She saw all of the adults and people, and I could see the fear. I reminded her that it’s just going to be her little friends and teachers in that classroom and bam, it was all good. And our “strings” would always keep us connected (see previous post). Needless to say, school will be good for ALL of us!
Sweet girl, let your light and love for life shine! Keep the child-like faith that inspires me on the daily, and keep showing off that most adorable smile of yours. We love you so much, sweet Mazy Grace!
