Mazy’s Little 1st Birthday Party
This past Sunday we had a little 1st birthday party for our little Mazy Grace!
When Dan and I were talking about having a party, I asked him what he thought the theme should be, since I was having a hard time coming up with one that fit Mazy. Dan said “dogs, of course!” and he couldn’t have been more right! Our daughter still absolutely LOVES dogs and so a dog-themed party was right up her alley.
This good ole mama forgot about the time change when planning, so the presented a little bit of a sleep issue, but she did just fine and I think had a good time. She crashed Sunday night to say the least.
One thing I realized in planning is that the sky is the limit and what did I want my limit to be? I knew that I wanted that day to be a celebration of the gift that she is to us, and I didn’t want to be overwhelmed with the details. We also wanted that day to be a thank you to those we invited, who had invested so much in her and in us. I wanted set up to be nice and easy (since I had about a 15 minutes window to set up), and make sure that Mazy knew we loved her. I think that all was accomplished and what a fun day it was!
We are so blessed to have such a loving family out here!

Of course Dan thought the candles should be lit, which made this mama a tad nervous!
This made us laugh – she just massaged the cupcake instead of eating it! She ate a few bites, but wasn’t a huge fan actually! Don’t know if that means I am not a good baker or she isn’t into the sweets. I’ll believe the second of the two :).
She thought mommy should give the cake a try!

Probably her most favorite part of the day was when her friend Allie was waving this sheet for her – oh the GIGGLES and squeals! Her smile says it all!
She got a little messy and this mama forgot to take some extra clothes along, so in the church kitchen sink she went! I think daddy was having just as much fun as she was!
This is one of my favorite pictures from the day! She thought it was great stuff to be sitting in a sink getting a rinse down. That look on her face, oh we love you Mazy!
Last but not least, this is Mazy’s “new” face she pulls when she isn’t sure about something. She pulls this face all of the time and to be honest it’s QUITE hilarious, but she gets even more frustrated and does it even more then. Mazy, Mazy, Mazy!
What a blessing it was to celebrate a little girl who we never even dreamed of having two years ago! She brings so much love and joy to our lives and can’t imagine our lives without her. She keeps us on our toes and has so much love to give. Sweet baby, you are going to be ONE tomorrow! Can’t wait to celebrate that day with you!
