Not Taking A Moment For Granted

Not a moment for granted.

This week has been a week of firsts for Mazy!

Even though Mazy has been scootin’ (not crawling), she is now all over our house. As much as we have to watch her now, it has been a gift. To watch her discover. Explore. Search. It is just precious! I know with a mover many say it is more inconvenient because they get into so much, but in a way it has been very nice because now she can go and get what she wants. She has been so content because of it!

Mazy also took her first steps! The other night we just thought we would see what she would do if we let go of her. Lo and behold, she walked towards me! Dan and I both looked at each other and thought “WHAT?” Yes, indeed she did it again! She can’t pull herself up on furniture yet to a standing position, but she can take steps! Here I thought it would be months before she would walk, but I think I was wrong!

Another change was the other day she was crying and crying for a nap and I didn’t understand why. Granted she still doesn’t like to go down for naps, but I peaked in and saw her sitting up in the crib. Yikes! We still had it at the highest setting, so we immediately took her out and Dan lowered the crib down a few notches.

We have also been working on switching her over from formula to milk and from bottles to sippy cups. The first few days were rough, but she has slowly been adjusting and it is going much better.

So many changes, yet we have loved just watching her grow and grow this week!

Not taking a moment for granted.

Children teach us to take a step back and take advantage, take notice, and take time to think about the little things in life. Like taking little steps. Scootin around the house. Watching her open a cupboard door and see her eyes just light up, being so proud of herself.

Children teach us that there is more to life. More to life than emails. More to life than Pinterest. More to life than getting the dishes done. More to life than cleaning the house.

With Mazy almost being ONE, I don’t want to take any moment for granted. I have loved every stage with her, but each stage I wonder how it can get any better? But then it does!

That little girl has taught me to love life. To take a step back and soak in the moments. Take a step back and watch her grow. Take a step back, put something down, and just watch her. We find ourselves doing that often. Just watching her, peaking over the ledge, peaking around the corner, or even cracking open her door to watch her sleep as she naps.

I sure have a long ways to go with this, but everyday Mazy is there to teach me that yes, indeed, it is worth not taking a moment for granted because I never know what she will be doing next!
