Around The Home

We have welcomed some warmer weather to Minnesota this past week! We have been in the 30s the past few days, which has been so wonderful, considering Mazy wants to keep going outside. It is a whole lot more bearable for us all when it’s not so frigid out there. Granted it’s a sloppy mess, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we had all grass by the end of the week!

It has been a bit of a rough week when it comes to sleeping and Mazy, but we know there are a few reasons why. Of course she slept GREAT for our parents when we were gone to Mexico, but ever since we got home, it has been downhill from there. She is back to waking up multiple times a night and not wanting to go back to sleep on her own. Some nights, she is WIDE awake for 2-3 hours from around 2-4 or 5. We are not quite sure what is going on, though we should not be surprised because she has never been a good sleeper.

Since she decided that sleep was overrated, we decided to get rid of her wubs since we are now home for awhile. We know it’s a lot at once, but we will never have the “perfect” opportunity! We will always have that excuse to wait. I was “kindly” reminded this week by someone that we were long overdue to wean her off of it and the lady was very bothered that she still used it, so that put the guilt trip on. We wanted to wait until after Christmas and not do it immediately when we got home, so this past week we decided to take the plunge. I know that she would sleep much better with it, but I just keep praying that God will provide that comfort she needs and remind her that we love her!

She is just so cute though and I truly believe that God’s mercies are new every morning! Sometimes I can’t WAIT until mornings because that means we have made it through another night! For 2 years, she has struggled to sleep, and that truth has brought on a whole new meaning for us. This too shall pass and we know that she will one day work through this. We will look back on this and maybe even laugh one day, but the lessons God is teaching us through this too, have been worth it.

 We have tried the crying out method yet again, but it seems to not be working. Though as I now sit here typing this in the wee hours of the morning, trying to let her work through it, she is now silent. Her little body, thanks to God’s grace, has found that sweet spot in sleep. It’s a little prayer we pray every single night, that little Mazy would sleep well, and look at how He just answered!

Despite our lack of sleep this week, we sure had a good time with our sweetie and oh did she make us laugh!

Mazy found all of her swimming diapers and thought she had to put them ALL on. She must have thought she REALLY had to go! She even found her bathing suit and tried putting it on while saying “swim, swim…” Sorry honey, we have a long time before we can go swimming!
