Be An Example of God Every Day. No Matter What.

While putting away our daughter’s clothes in her dresser drawers, I noticed a little pocket-size notebook open on top of the dresser. I glanced at it and assumed it was just something silly she wrote down for her stuffed animals, which is often the case.
Not thinking I’d actually have to process what it said, I quick read it and turned my head to walk away. Then as the words starting to sink in, I couldn’t help but take a step back and reread it again:
Be an example of God every day. No matter what.
I don’t know what prompted her to write this. I don’t know when she wrote it. Nor do I plan to ask her because I don’t want her to think I’m snooping around her room every time she’s gone! But my goodness, did this challenge ME.
Isn’t it humbling when God uses your kids to challenge YOUR way of living? I’ve heard t said that God uses kids to humble us and I’m sure you can think of countless times this has happened to you too! When your kids say or do something that makes you take a step back and think huh, well I needed that today!
Be an example of God is great. Adding everyday, makes it challenging. Finishing it off with “no matter what”, gives me no excuse. Instantly humbled.
So here I sit, asking myself, how can I be an example of God no matter WHAT comes my way? How can I shine HIS light? How can I reflect HIS character and not the character and ways of this world? If God isn’t my focus, my center, and my goal, I’ve got it all backwards.
Time to kick it into gear, Kristin, and be an example of God NO MATTER WHAT.
