A Love So Deep
Some of you may have already seen this picture on facebook and instagram, but I couldn’t help but share it again. To me, the words on her shirt “Who needs a prince? (I have daddy)” is a saying that goes so much deeper than just words on a shirt.
When Dan and I have talked about raising Mazy, we often think about how we treat, respect, and raise her now, is how she will one day treat, respect, and raise her children. I think about how Dan treats her as his daughter is how we hope she will one day expect her future husband to treat her – with all the love and respect in the world.
And it even goes deeper than that.
How we raise her is a reflection of how our heavenly Father loves us – with an unconditional love.
You see, before Mazy, I thought I knew what love was. I really did. Dan and I have been married almost 10 years and I an honest self-evaluation of our marriage would make me say that we are doing well! I would say I love deeper than I ever have and love Dan deeper than I did almost 10 years ago.
But then I had Mazy.
The love we have for our little girl, wow. Again, I thought I knew what love was before. And this love we have for her, is only just a glimpse of the Father’s love for us. I hear Mazy cry and I want to take away every tear. I see her ache in pain from teething and I just want to take the sleepness nights for her so she can rest. I see the endless love she has for dogs and giving them hugs, that I want to be at the receiving end of them constantly. Thankfully she is just a VERY affectionate girl so we get those hugs often.
I just want to love her with the same love that God has for us. To teach her what REAL love is – it’s tough, it’s work, but it’s worth it. That she is worth it. That she is worthy of respect as she grows into a young woman. That she is beautiful and that her dad and mom love her with an endless love.
That our love for her and God’s love for her goes far beyond any Valentine’s day!
We love you sweet Mazy girl!
