When I think about doing these posts, of what life looks like around our home, I continually realize we live an ordinary life. Yet God continually gives me extraordinary experiences, as I am sure He does for you too.
In the moment tonight, I had one of those experiences. Mazy is teething and struggles to stay asleep at night, for rightful reasons. We have learned that having the radio on all night, helps her stay asleep (or at least we think). Tonight, as I was rocking her back to sleep, the song “Good Father” came on. I couldn’t help but sing that over her as a testimony of the moment. God is our good Father. It’s who He is. And I am loved by Him. As I quietly whispered that song in her ear, her arm raised and rested on my shoulder. I couldn’t help but think that we are just in this together. Her. Me. Dan. God. A family of 3. A family that we have been praying for. And a family given to us because we have such a good and gracious Father. Thank you Lord, for those quiet moments!
As I mentioned, Mazy is teething, so she will literally chew on anything and everything!
Call me addicted to selfies with my daughter, but I just can’t get enough of them or of her.
You may have seen this on facebook or instagram, but I just want to remind you that I am NOT perfect! This is proof. I tried to make a buttercream meringue, and lo and behold, I burned the yolks and sugar. Failed attempt #1. Then I decided to just make a regular buttercream frosting, that was less intense. I turned on the mixer, but didn’t realize my bowl wasn’t secure. I had powdered sugar, milk, and cocoa all over me, the floor, and counter. Failed attempt #2. My 3rd try was a success, thankfully! So let me remind you, Kristin is NOT perfect and this is NOT the only time this has ever happened!
Mazy still can’t get enough of the outdoors. Unfortunately one day it was a tad chilly and windy. I did go for a bike ride with her (which some thought I was crazy), but we couldn’t really sit outside, like we normally do. BUT! We have a bay window and she is now able to sit up well on her own, watching the world go by, very proudly.
We are trying to get her to understand finger food. The Gerber Puffs are just too big for her, so we divide them into teeny tiny pieces, which she usually does pretty well with. Though, it’s picking them up, that is the most fun for her!
That smile and those eyes!
This past weekend, I went on a women’s retreat with the church. It was a wonderful weekend! God moved in incredible ways. One thing I have been struggling with, is my health. Two weeks ago, I received the written report of my heart and it was hard to read. The words congestive heart failure and moderate to severe mitral regurgitation are words that are never easy to read (or hear). My diuretic medication was increased yet again because my body is still retaining a good amount of fluid. The doctors are still optimistic that my heart will one day return to what it was before Mazy was born and we are too. This weekend reminded me that I do not need to fear. God has my future in His hands. God has done miraculous work in my life before and we believe He can do it again! What a blessing this past weekend was. And by the way, I am married to the most amazing man! Dan and Mazy are two peas in a pod and when I come home, I can just see the love that Mazy has for him and vice versa. What a gift. What a blessing.
I know, maybe a boring and ordinary life, but trust me, we see God working in extraordinary ways!
