Around the Home
It was all things Christmas this week in our home! Even though Christmas is a little more than a week away, I knew I wanted our sweet girl to experience all things Christmas this year! As she gets a bit older, I see the excitement in her eyes and the joy that Christmas brings. And she is getting the jist that Christmas isn’t just about presents (which was what her answer was a month or so ago!)
Mazy has been asking me to make Christmas cookies with her, so our activity for one of the days was making cute little Christmas cookies! I forget every year, the process it is – make the dough, chill it, roll it out, cut out shapes, bake, let cool. Make frosting, put in bags, decorate, wash everything up, and store. Wowzas, it truly felt like an all day project, but oh it was so much fun! So much joy fills my heart when I see her having so much joy!
Another Christmas activity we did was see the model train set up in the basement of our library! It was incredible folks! They even had a little scavenger hunt for items within the train set-up. Mazy was most intrigued by the tunnel, so we spent the majority of our time checking that out!
And of course the Christmas season means trying to stay healthy too!
This season is always such a unique time of year. So many emotions tied up in this season. I just can’t stop listening to Christmas music and thanking God for what he truly has done in giving us his Son! It’s the whole point of this holiday, but oh how easy it is to miss the point! This coming week I want to continue with the theme “all things Christmas” with the simple ideas. Not sure what that looks like yet, but just to enjoy the season. Heart disease has taught me that even though we often don’t do anything “big”, it’s the simple things in life that can bring just as much fun and enjoyment! For instance, Dan made Mazy a small little ice skating rink in our backyard! He used a large roll of plastic we had, 2x4s, pipes, whatever he could find, filled the square with water, and voila! Unfortunately it got a bit warm and it didn’t last, but every morning, Mazy had to get up and “check” on the rink. Oh the little joys in life!
Hope you all enjoy your week!
