Around the Home
Lots of pictures to share from this past week! Not that we were overwhelmed with things to do, but found ways to enjoy the Christmas season!
Mazy started off the week by wanting to swim in her homemade ice rink…she quickly learned by sticking a toe in, that it was a tad too chilly…
On Saturday, we celebrated Christmas with my family! Always a time filled with excitement and time together as a family. All of the kiddos had buffalo plaid attire, so we decided they should all wear it on the same day! Hopefully they don’t wonder in 30 years why they were dressed like this…
Mazy couldn’t WAIT to open gifts! Love living life through her eyes at times…
So fun having these two with us this year:
Despite getting some snow this past week, we had a beautiful “spring” day on the 22nd, with 49 degree weather! That meant a walk to the park…
On Friday night, we had our annual babysitting night at church, where the middle and high school youth groups babysit the kiddos of the church! It is actually free because we want to thank the church family supporting us the past year as a youth group. And the kiddos absolutely LOVE it, as do we!
On Thursday, Mazy and I went to my old work at Parable Christian Store/Hallmark where I had to pick up a sign – good excuse, right? It was so great seeing my old co-workers! Couldn’t be more thankful for that place – they sure walked through a lot with me! If you are ever in St. Joseph, you HAVE to stop at this store! You will not leave empty-handed…just a fair warning!
And…our little family made our annual gingerbread houses! I tried making a double-decker house this year…learned a bit in the process!
Mazy’s beautiful house…
I attempted making a fun roof…half of it turned out…and the other half? A sad story!
Mazy also had an ENT appointment this week to see if she would need tubes again in her ears. The fluid in her ears is still hanging around, so sometime in the near future she will be getting tubes again. She had tubes put in when she was 14 months old and they fell out about 2 years later. Last winter went fairly well without her having them (only had one infection), but this year her ears have said enough! She was saying she was so nervous to have to go to the hospital or surgery center and I couldn’t quite understand why. Well, she expressed that she didn’t want to be there for a week, like I am. My heart just broke when I realized that was her fear and how my heart struggles have shaped her perspective in life. I explained that she would be gone for mere minutes, but I think she is having a hard time wrapping her mind around that idea! Sure has reminded me how much grace I need to give that sweet girl.
Anyways what a FUN week it was! I can’t wait to continue to celebrate the birth of our Savior with family and friends!
