Around the Home
It’s been an interesting first full week of the new year, but why assume that it would be dull?
I started off the week with an appointment at Michigan and the report is that I am STABLE! My doctors haven’t used that word for quite some time, so to know that nothing has changed since my last appointment 2 months ago, is so encouraging! The reality that I have severe heart failure is still there and a low ejection fraction, but to know that nothing has changed is honestly a really good feeling. I also received a holter monitor for 48 hours, so hopefully the results will show exactly what it needs to show.
Tuesday was errand day! Wednesday Mazy had ear tubes put in and her adenoids taken out. She was a bit nervous, but she did SO good! Not a tear and she sure had the hearts of the nurses! Thursday she was in quite a bit more pain, granted she wasn’t in any on Wednesday. But as the day progressed, it got a bit better. We are just happy to get those tubes back in so hopefully she doesn’t get the infections and it keeps the fluid at bay.
Friday was met with craziness with our furnace doing some crazy things, but still ran. We also started working on our hardwood floors! We were going to carpet our bedroom, but we are old and didn’t realize how expensive carpet is, so we decided to take the plunge and redo all of our hardwood floors (including our bedroom) since we could do all of them for cheaper than what we could get carpet installed for. Of course with any big house projects there are a few surprises, but our biggest surprise was when Saturday, our furnace quit working all together.
Dan was able to get the furnace miraculously going on again, but it was off for good Saturday night. Thankfully it didn’t get too cold in the house, just down to 59/60, but Mazy and I packed up to stay at my parents after church and overnight. But then Dan got it going again! We think we know what’s wrong, so hopefully that will be up and running again soon.
As I was trying to download pictures, I could only get these to download, so here are just a few pictures from the week:
At youth group, Dan led some good team building games – games that look and sound easy, but are a whole lot harder to accomplish than one might think! Trying to bring a long stick down to the ground without taking your finger off of it…
Stand on a tarp and then try to flip it over without stepping off of it onto the carpet. Sounds impossible, but it can be done and they did it!
Mazy LOVES to play with slime, so we hauled out the ingredients and made our best recipe yet! I will hopefully share it soon!
Getting ready to get those ear tubes!
Anytime the doctor or nurse asked if she knew what something was, the answer was always, “My mommy had that!” I’m thankful that my experiences in the hospital have eased and made her more aware of what life at a hospital is like! And she realized she didn’t have to stay there a week…
Enjoying some SNOW this week! We are so ready to get bombed on!
I survived another heart monitor…those suckers give me SUCH a bad rash, but it’s only 2 days of my life! I figure if I can survive open heart surgeries, I can do heart monitors, but boy do those leads cause a nasty reaction!
We are hoping for a calmer week! We didn’t plan on furnace issues while doing a big ole house project, but such is life! Also hoping to get some snow this week! We live in West Michigan, it’s cold, and we are ready for it!
