Around the Home
Week number 2 in the books of social distancing and 1 week down with our mandate to “shelter in place”. How are you all doing? Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to express what life is like, so here are some pictures that give a glimpse into what the Sterks have been up to:
Our dog loves water just like our daughter…can’t keep either of them out of it!
Why not throw some snow in there? I must admit, it was beautiful and Mazy sure loved it!
When you want to live in an ocean, you create one, right? Mazy was begging Dan to make one and so this is what they came up with and indeed, we still have an ocean:
Perfect weather for a fire as a family:
We’ve had a pesky bird that keeps pooping on Dan’s truck mirror, so Dan and Mazy went on a “hunt” to try and catch it so they could relocate it somewhere. They were inches away, but no such luck! I’ll admit, when you walk to the front of the house and see your family lying underneath the truck, kind of an odd sight to see:
This week’s beautiful weather meant plenty of walks and hikes:
So these are teeny tiny little black bugs in piles. Anyone know what they are? They were not ants.
When you find a big hill, you roll down it!
We are so thankful for our home and our neighborhood! Being home this much has made us realize just how much we are grateful for where God has planted us.
And when it’s REALLY nice outside, you do snow angels in the dirt:
Mazy and I decided to venture off to Saugatuck Dunes State Park, a place I had never been. I warned Mazy that I didn’t have a clue where I was going, but that we would try and find the lake together. We didn’t have a map and wowzas did we walk a LONG ways to get there, up the hills, down the hills, through the woods, but we eventually made it!
Needed to find a walking stick for the long journey:
And we finally made it!
Mazy wanted to go cold turkey and take off her training wheels…have a little ways to go, but she’s getting braver!
Why not add in some crazy! We’ve been wanting to take a section of this tree down for awhile, so Dan, my rock climbing man, strapped himself to the tree with his harness, and away those branches went! I’ll admit, I breathed a sigh of relief when we were done!
Our front door has always been white, but we decided to restore it to it’s original look. Like any project for us, it always turns out WAY bigger than we expected, but it usually just requires more manpower. This door was no different! After stripping the paint, it was time to stain:
The almost finished project: just need to put up our door knocker and green wreath again:
And just beyond that door was a lightbulb in the entryway for lighting, so we found a clearance light for only $8!
Then it was time to relive my childhood in 3rd grade and make oobleck! 2 cups cornstarch, 1 cup water, and a few drops of food coloring, will give you this crazy mess:
Her face says it all:
But it has provided long periods of entertainment:
This girl…
Thanks to Frozen, Mazy loves to be Elsa on the daily!
Dan and Mazy painted some rocks together, to hide around town:
