Around The Home
I am going to join the rest of the choir and wonder where summer went? To think that it was Labor Day yesterday, completely befuddles us, but in a way, we are ready for fall and ROUTINE. Yes, we are those people! We can be incredibly spontaneous, but at the same time, we thrive off of our routines, which always means summer must come to an end then, for that to happen!
We had a busy and fun week, and even better weekend as we had our first visitors from Minnesota over Labor Day weekend! Our friends and former youth group leaders of ours came from Prinsburg to visit, which was so much fun! Of course we could pick up right where we left off. Such a great time of catching up and the weather could not have been better, which meant plenty of time by the pool!
On a different note, I had some struggles health-wise this week with my heart, which was a bit disappointing. I started to wonder if I was retaining fluid again around my heart because climbing a flight of stairs was becoming difficult to do without stopping, and even picking up Mazy was becoming too much. I spoke with my doctor’s nurse and she became quite concerned as well, as those activities should not be that difficult on the meds I am on. After speaking with her for awhile about my symptoms, she said that something has to be done and if we can’t get the fluid under control, they are probably going to have to move the surgery date. After the nurse talked with my doctor, for 3 weeks they are going to monitor me closely via blood draws, weight, and blood pressure checks. If I am still retaining fluid, they will probably have to admit me and talk to the surgeon to see what to do next. A step I SO hope doesn’t happen! Of course I want this surgery done and over with, but that is not the way I want it to happen (yes, now I am being picky!) I don’t want to be laid up in the hospital, waiting for surgery to happen! They increased my diuretic pill to 2 times every day, along with increasing my potassium, which wreaks a bit of havoc on my body, but if it means I can stay out of the hospital, I am game! And so far, so good, which we are so so thankful for! So hopefully this will carry me to Nov. 30, but at the same time, I am doubtful to be honest, considering that is 3 months away. But hey, trying to be optimistic, and hope that the time just flies!
I am truly feeling better, which is very relieving. I just have to be better at resting, taking care of myself, and asking for help when I need it. Dan has been so incredible through all of this, is keeping good tabs on me, and going through all of this with him, makes me love him even more!
Here’s what’s been going on this past week!
Mazy was so tired one night. we weren’t sure she was going to make it to her bed!
We knew it was time to get a step stool when Mazy was grabbing her potty chair consistently and doing this!
This girl sure loves her homemade playdough!
I had a bug bite and Mazy had to make sure I was well taken care of! She grabbed her diaper rash cream that we haven’t used in eons, and rubbed some “scream” onto it (as she calls it…for cream).
My sister, her youngest, Mazy, and I, made it to Dutch Village one more time this past week!
One of my favorite pics of all-time!
Her smile says how much she loves chocolate chip cookies!
Some pics of our weekend with our friends! Mazy LOVED having extra guests in the house and oh did we too!
We had to check out Lake Michigan, one of the best sights and sounds of Michigan!
Unfortunately, this was probably one of the last weekends we would spend at the pool, but we have to keep telling ourselves, this is just the beginning!
We can’t have visitors come out without a trip to Captain Sundae!
Nothing like relaxing by the pool!
Our dear friends! Thank you for driving umpteen hours to see us! Love you guys!
Me and my girl.
Mazy LOVED having friends to play with in the pool!
Again, couldn’t be more thankful for our friends who made the 11 hour trek out to Zeeland! What a blessing it is to have friends both near and far.
So blessed we got to spend the weekend with you guys! <3
