Around The Home
First week free of heart-related appointments (besides a blood draw) and it sure proved to be such a good one! I have missed being home with Mazy for just those short hours in the morning. Waking up and cuddling together, watching a show, pretending as far as our imaginations will go, oh I just treasure those times! We definitely packed in a lot this week, but they were all things I have been thinking about and wanting to do with Mazy.
Unfortunately my labs this week to check on my heart, were abnormal again. I am retaining some fluid, which is a bummer, since that was one of the big symptoms I had before my surgery(ies). They increased my water pill, which isn’t always fun, and means a lot of trips to the bathroom, but we hope it will help gain a better control of the fluid. I just hope that this isn’t something that is continuous, but only time will tell. Otherwise I feel like I am back at square one! But God knows. God sees. God hears.
Anyway, enough about heart stuff. Here’s what went on this past week!
Mazy had her 3 year check up at the doctor! She’s one healthy little girl, weighing in at 29.2 lbs. (33rd %tile) and is 37 3/4 inches tall (67th %tile). Developmentally she is doing great and we just couldn’t be more thankful for the health she has been given! And her heart sounds PERFECT.
The next day, Mazy had her first DENTIST appointment! I was very intrigued to see how she would do. She can get very timid at times and then just lose it, so I prepared her as much as I could. We read an Usborne book called Going To The Dentist and I tried to talk to her about what they would do. Well, I realized I probably didn’t need to prepare her as much as I did because the dentistry staff and atmosphere was AMAZING. I know I am a bit biased, but Centerstone Family Dentistry in Zeeland is so great! Dan and I both go there and when I mentioned I should bring Mazy, they said it’s okay if she doesn’t do great. They are used to children. And you know what? They were so right. Talk about speaking at Mazy’s level and preparing her for everything they were going to do next. Lisa, the hygienist, was so amazing and Mazy said SHE HAD FUN. Okay, if you can go to the dentist and say you had fun, that just shows how great of a place it is! Granted it helped that Mazy was a rockstar, but she does well when things don’t surprise her. What a kid-friendly place!
Now in 6 months it could be a different story too…
We finally made it to the Frederik Meijer Gardens and the Butterfly Exhibit! What a fun experience and sadly enough, I had never been there before! Definitely worth going!
Crown of thorns, but notice the red flowers that grow? What a symbolism of Christ’s death, but the beauty of the promise of eternal life!
Science is NOT my strong point. Never has been, so learning about the process of a catepillar to a butterfly was so intriguing!
My mom set up a whole Easter egg decorating station at her house one morning! What fun we had, with Mazy’s cousins too, decorating eggs! Something I never even thought of to be honest, but oh did Mazy LOVE it! Thank you Mom! We typically wear shirts in life, but I didn’t want Mazy’s to get full of dye, so we just took it off 🙂
Crazy cousin fun!
On Saturday we were kindly invited to an Easter egg hunt by a friend! It was incredibly windy and rainy, but it was SO fun! Mazy had a blast! We are humbled and thankful they thought to invite us – what a fun time it was, despite the rain!
Eating all the goodies…I mean not all…just some! The fun part is that Mazy doesn’t know yet if we eat something, so we can still enjoy her Easter basket just as much as she does! Don’t tell her :)…
I had hidden a few eggs around the house for Mazy to go on a hunt for, when she woke up Easter morning.
Then we gave her a little Easter basket with little gifts from the dollar store. I made sure to tell her that this isn’t a basket of gifts just because, but is a reminder of the gift that Jesus is to us and the gift of eternal life. I can’t wait to keep explaining that concept to her more and more in the years to come b/c truly, that is the greatest gift we could ever receive!
Mazy is wearing the Easter dress her cousin wore a few years ago! So fun to see Mazy in it now!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
