So what else have we been up to?
Good question.
Well, for those of you who don’t know me very well, I am one who LOVES to do crafts, make something myself, or just try something new. Our spare bedroom is filled with craft ideas, projects in the making, all my scrapbooking and card-making supplies, my sewing machine, and so much more. I love to making things that are simple and way cheaper to make than buy. I’m a bargain woman – but sometimes to get that “bargain,” I have to make it myself. Bummer (just kidding – that is the FUN part!). When my friend Lauren was home from Florida, we wanted to make something off of the website “Pinterest.” For those who are not on Pinterest, it is a must – join ASAP. Warning though: it is addicting. Honestly, I am not on it very often, but when I am, the ideas just start flowing! Anyways, when Lauren was home, we wanted to do some projects – we weren’t finding anything real appealing, so we decided to just go to Goodwill and see what we could come up with. Here is what we did:
We found plain and old clipboards at Goodwill for $1.00! We went to JoAnns and bought scrapbook paper and modge-podged it to the clipboard. And VIOLA! Talk about a cheap way of making a cheap clipboard look great!
My sister had mentioned that someone she knew made necklaces out of ties. Lauren and I decided to give it a whirl. While at Goodwill, we found these crazy ties (crazier the better) for $1.99 each. Then we went to JoAnns with coupons in hand, and bought beads. I ended up getting a steal of a deal on them b/c I believe they were on sale and my coupon was still good too for the entire purchase so the beads were probably more than half off. Anyways, as you know a tie is small on one side and then gets wider and wider. I just cut and sewed the side that was wider so they are equal. We realized that we wanted a little more bulk between each bead, so we took batting (for quilting that I had) and shoved it in between each bead to “fluff” it up. And here are my finished products! Top one is a blue/pink tie w/ off white beads and the next one is a crazy color with cherry wood-type beads. SO EASY and SO CHEAP to make!
Another one of my projects that has taken me quite some time, was to organize all of my pictures. Since being married, I’ve had so many random cds of pictures, not even knowing what is ON each cd. I decided it is high time to get organized! So, I have taken all the cds I had, gone through all of the pictures, deleted the pictures that didn’t turn out or pictures I will never need, and organized them all by year. Within each year, I have different “folders” set up on the cd so that when I put that cd into my computer, I can go straight to the event I am looking for. Then I typed up a template to insert into the cd cases with a description of what is on each cd. Now I don’t have all these different cds just laying all over the place! Each color is a different year too. Ah, how I love to be organized!
Most years have a lot of pictures on them, but here is an example of what I did:
