What: Long-sleeved shirts
Why: Sleeves hanging off the edge. Shirts shoved so far back in the drawer you can’t even see them. Too many to choose from that you can’t even see to the bottom of the drawer. Filing through shirts that don’t even fit you anymore. Do you find yourself fitting into any of these statements? Are your long-sleeved shirts so “long lost” that you need to find a new way to organize them? Here is a start. (This idea is similar to how I proposed organizing your socks as well)
How:
1. Find all of the long-sleeve shirts you would like to put in your drawer.
2. Go through each one and ask:
-
Do I wear this shirt?
-
Does it fit me?
-
Are there holes in it or does it need to get fixed?
-
If you realize you do not need a specific shirt(s) anymore, donate it (or if it is THAT worn out, cut it up to make rags
3. Neatly fold them as you normally would. No matter how you fold them, typically if you fold them one more time, in half, you now have a rectangular folded shirt.
4. Line them up vertically either by color or by most worn. If you have more shirts than what will fit in the drawer, time to get RID of some of them. Donate them and enjoy a roomier drawer and fewer choices.
Confession of the Day: As I was going through my long-sleeve drawer, I knew I was keeping shirts for when I “might” wear them someday. I even found a shirt with a hole in the armpit – to the sewing machine I went, to fix that shirt. Now that my shirts are neatly lined in my drawer, I realize I have more drawer space than I have shirts, which is a GREAT feeling! No reason to fill it up because I know I can survive off the shirts I currently own.
