What: Games
Why: What was your favorite game growing up? Do you own it? How often do you play a game?
Have you ever thought how games have evolved? I think more people play video games than they do actual board or car games (hours played at least). I find that a little sad because there is value in sitting around a table, all strategizing over one board/card game, conversing all in the same room. Board and card games are something I will always love and appreciate.
But what to DO with them all? I think one can even have too many games.
How – Here are some ways you can organize your games and live with less:
1. Take all of your games out. (You may be getting sick of pulling everything out, but it’s the best way to go through EVERYTHING).
2. Make two piles – games you play, games you don’t play.
3. Look at the games you don’t play – the space they take up, is it worth it? If you have no ties to that game, time to donate it. If you just have it, to just have another option or game, donate it.
4. The games you play – do they have all of the pieces? If not, get rid of it.
5. Do you want to keep them all in one place? Maybe make a section for kids’ games and one for adults. Buying storage containers may be helpful in organizing them as well.
6. Take a game out in the next week and invite your family or spouse to play with you. You would be surprised at how much fun you will have!
My husband and I have a few “tournaments” going on in Skip-Bo, Battleship, and Ticket to Ride (a few of our favorite games).
What is YOUR favorite game?
Confession of the Day: I would say I used to collect games – but then I realized how often I DIDN’T play them. Our entertainment center was overflowing with games and puzzles that just sat there. That was when I realized someone else would benefit from the game or puzzle more than I would. Sometimes it is hard to part with those childhood games, but sometimes it is worth just getting rid of them too! Yes, that is a picture of our entertainment center above (we also have a few games in another spot as well – yes, we love our games!)
If you love games, "Spot It" is fun! And it's a small, round box that doesn't take up space. There is also a junior version for the littles.
Ironically I JUST played this game over Christmas with some friends and LOVED it!
I haven't heard of that one! I am going to have to check it out :). Thank you for letting me know about that one – I always love hearing new ideas!
