End of the Year Youth Group Fun
This year marks our the end of our first year in youth ministry at North Street CRC. The year maybe didn’t look like we thought it would in our personal life, but when it comes to our church and our youth group, there are not enough positive words in the English vocab to say how much we have loved being here and appreciate our church. Our youth group kids mean so much to us. They were faithful attenders every single Sunday night, were enthusiastic about anything we did, and we look so forward to getting to know them more and enveloping ourselves into our church community.
We heard it was tradition to have a shaving cream fight the last night of youth group. This was supposed to occur after church last Sunday night but Kristin had to go and be in the hospital for the week, so Dan couldn’t plan it all. So, we moved it to this past weekend and decided to do it at our house since we didn’t have to worry about the church lawn (the town parade was going by our church the next day), we could hose off, grill out, then jump in the pool. Plus, it was much warmer as well. So like always, God had that all planned out just right.
Dan decided to add a bit more pizzazz to the shaving cream warm. He doused a tarp with water and dish soap to make it slippery, had the kids get wet first, then handed them each a bag of flour, THEN came the shaving cream. Just imagine wet flour and shaving cream on top. Doesn’t take much of an imagination to envision the mess they all were! But in case you would like to see for yourselves, here are some pictures:
Dan giving instructions while dousing them with more water
And the flour fight begins! Dan was kind enough to buy them all cheap safety goggles to shield the eyes!
Then the shaving cream came out!
Wow.
We are looking so forward to MANY more years of just doing what we love! We are so thankful for a group of kids who have welcomed us into their lives. What a blessing that really is!
