From Trial To Testimony

It felt like “one more thing”.
It was only three months after finishing up chemo, after my first cancer diagnosis, that I showed signs of a relapse. We prayed for a false positive, but as the weeks and months moved forward, it was evident that once again, my leukemia was taking over my blood. Why would God allow me to get cancer AGAIN? Wasn’t once enough? Or was it not wiped from my body the first time, like we had thought?
The trials seemed to be piling on, especially since the only option at the time seemed to be chemo for life or a double heart and bone marrow transplant. I wanted to believe what Romans 8:28 said: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose,” but sheesh, what good was there in a 2nd diagnosis?
Well, in typical God-fashion, God smacked me in the face with his promise to use my trials as part of my testimony. And that is God’s goal every time. Not only in my life, but yours too! As Christians, we are called by him to live out our faith, through the circumstances He allows. Whether you are in an office, on the playing field, in a classroom, hallway, coffee shop, grocery store, or even hospital bed, God is using your trial and your everyday life as a testimony to encourage and help others in their own journeys.
But be willing to walk with open eyes, open ears, and a listening heart, to hear and see who God might be putting in your path to encourage and walk alongside. Your trial isn’t for nothing. Your life is on purpose and for a purpose. Turn your story into your testimony and you will see God work in ways you never imagined.
