Creating Cozy Holiday Cheer
This is a sponsored post brought to you by Wayfair. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience with these products.
Over the years, I have fallen in love with making a house a home. We have a limited budget, but because of that, it has offered the opportunity to find simple ways to either make it ourselves, use what we have and just rearrange, and ensure that every piece of décor has a purpose.
And one thing I do not skimp on in our home, is dressing it up for the holidays; especially Christmas. I desire for our home to be a place of respite, where it gives off the feeling of cozy, without being cluttered with stuff, and more stuff. I want it to be a place of “holiday cheer” as the song goes, and so that is why I am thankful I’ve been able to partner with Wayfair once again, to do implement that very idea. I often get an idea in my head and Wayfair always has something to compliment the idea and make our home that much more “cozy”. When I think of cozy, I think of blankets, pillows, rugs, etc. So here are a feel simple items I added to our home this Christmas season, to give it that holiday cheer feel.
On our porch, even though we don’t sit out there much during the winter, I wanted a warm and snuggly blanket that we can quick grab if we are waiting for a friend, watching the snow fall, or just simply watch the world go by. Being that we have white pebble dash walls with black porch furniture, I needed a pop of color. I wanted a blanket that could be used during any season, so I wanted to ensure I chose the “right” color for any season. When I saw this Nader lemon curry colored blanket, I knew this was the one:
I love the pattern and fringe on the end. Plus, it compliments the black furniture so well! It is 60″x80″, so it covers this 72″ tall girl very well. Don’t you just want to snuggle up with it right now?
It goes perfectly even with a Christmas tree, and it’ll look fantastic in the spring with fresh flowers on the table that normally sits where our tree is:
Also on the porch, I wanted to add a pillow to one of our single chairs. I found it was hard to find something that would go well with the buffalo plaid, but again, a pop of color was in my mind, so this red Merry Christmas lumbar pillow was PERFECT. I always love a good throw pillow because it just adds that piece of coziness and style, all in one. And, I can always sew a pillow cover for it so I can use the pillow throughout the year:
While walking around a home décor store a few weeks ago, I saw that church and church steeples were becoming a common décor item. I fell in love with that idea and though this is a specific Christmas item, I saw this wooden Church with Light and Timer on Wayfair’s website and knew this would be the perfect addition to this shelf space in our living room. It even LIGHTS UP with LED lights and has a 6-hour timer, that runs on batteries. Talk about adding that cozy feeling at night when it’s all lit up! Feels so magical. And the gold Christmas tree next to it, which is also from Wayfair a few years ago, and now has this space looking like I want it to.
Our bay window has always been a work in progress here at our home. I feel there are so many different decorating ideas for bay windows, but I want to keep it simple too. That’s when I decided I had to just stick with pillows and switch out the covers for each season, which minimizes storage space, but maximizes holiday cheer. I love the look of emerald green, so I found these cute and inexpensive velvety soft Adel 22×22 pillow covers (come in a set of 2) from Wayfair, and mixed them in with a red plaid pillow, which now adds that cozy holiday feel for that area.
This space is coming together! And again, each season I can just switch out the pillow covers.
We have very little shelf space in our home, so I always want to maximize the space we have, with as little as possible. One way to do that is by adding vases. Vases can add that texture and color, without having to be overbearing. I found this adorable Weon 4-Piece Ceramic Table Vase Set from Wayfair, that were inexpensive, but also versatile and can be used during any season! I can put evergreen branches in these for winter, flowers in the spring, green branches in the summer, and colorful leaves in the fall, without having to switch out the vase. They range from 7.5 inches to 4 inches and are all different shapes as well. The colors also go perfectly with our cool gray colored walls in our home.
In fact, I think this teal vase looks great standing alone too:
Here is that vase with a little bittersweet in it:
I always love a good rug in our home! We were in dire need of a new rug in front of our kitchen sink and I always had in mind that I wanted a jute rug. But I wanted one that was durable and would last us awhile, not just a year like our last rug. So I found this Soprano Hand-Flatweave Jute rug by Kelly Clarkson Homes and it is the perfect size for that area. It goes well with our dark gray flooring and is very comfortable to stand on. Adds that texture/color mix that I was looking for:
It was handmade in India and though I can’t put it in the washer, it is easy to clean up spills by simply blotting with a cloth.
Do you like to decorate for Christmas? What are you go-to pieces you add every year? What do you dream of adding to create that cozy holiday cheer feel in your home?
