Home Tour – Front/Toy Room
This was one of my favorite rooms of the house when we did our first “walk through,” the day we moved in! With all of the light coming through those windows, I knew it would be a place we would be spending a lot of time. Before we moved, we assumed, by looking at the pictures, that it would be a perfect room for our piano and then maybe some of Mazy’s toys. Well, that is exactly what it has turned into! Mazy’s toy room, with the piano tucked in there. It is the PERFECT room where she spends most of her time.
This room alone, has 7 windows! What we love most about this room is that during the day, the toys come filtering out, one by one, but at the end of the day, we can just throw them right back into that room. And trust me, it’s not always this put together! My nieces were over and wanted to organize it, so of course I said yes!
There was a bookcase downstairs that was left with the house, so we decided to bring that upstairs and use it for Mazy’s coloring books, puzzles, stickers, markers, paints, magna tiles, and many odds and ends. Then at the top, Dan and I have some of our go-to books. The piano, we received as a wedding gift from Dan’s parents. It has never been tuned since we’ve had it and it has been moved several times, but it still plays which is all I need! Mazy and I often are found sitting together on the bench, playing and singing. I am not very good, but good enough where I can fumble my way through a simple song. On top of the piano, I decorated the traditional way by displaying our family photos, which Mazy also loves to look at!
You may be wondering what the piece of cardboard is for on the bottom left…when Mazy plays with her dollhouse, she tries to stand up some of the items and because of the carpet, they tip over. So, the cardboard piece solves that problem!
First of all, notice the light hanging? LOVE it! So unique and so in love with it! The little table and chairs is perfect for Mazy and a friend or two, to do a craft! Another hand me down too. The little metal container on the table is from Hobby Lobby and it holds 6 ball canning jars. Each jar is filled with markers, crayons, colored pencils, color mess-free markers, and odds and ends. I love that organization because when Mazy wants to use a specific coloring item, she can just grab the jar and go. The kitchen set we received as a gift from someone in Minnesota, and it is played with daily. She is always making and baking me food, which is so fun to see her creative side come out! That table is also nice for Mazy to play with her play-doh at! We do have some play-doh in the carpet, but it comes out thankfully! I just find a lot of value in Mazy having her own little space where she can be creative and just let her imagination run wild!
Bottom right is Dan’s old toy box from when he was a kid. It may be a bit dated, but it is perfect to hold all those odds and ends! Again, something you can just throw the items in at the end of the day! The ledge along the window is awesome – that is where we store Mazy’s cars and small items that she plays with often.
So what have we done with this room? Just painted the walls, ceiling, and trim!

The sun that comes into that room feels AMAZING and it sure is a room that is a bonus room in our house! A fun room to have in our home and Mazy would definitely agree!
