Homemade Baked Macaroni and Cheese
Do you ever get sick of the same ole box of macaroni and cheese? I know, I know, you can’t beat the price of a box of mac and cheese. It’s not as cost effective, but it is so much tastier! I will admit that the leftovers become a little more “grainy” if that is the right word…it does taste best fresh. Nothing is better than homemade, right?
Baked Macaroni and Cheese {Print Recipe}
Ingredients:
- 4 c. uncooked spiral pasta
- 1/4 c. butter, cubed
- 1/4 c. flour
- 4 c. milk
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1/4 t. pepper
- 1/4 t. ground mustard
- 1/4 t. Worcestershire sauce
- Dash ground nutmeg
- 2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 c. cubed Velveeta
Directions:
1. Cook pasta according to package directions.
2. In large saucepan, melt better; stir in flour until smooth.
3. Gradually add milk.
4. Stir in salt, pepper, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and nutmeg.
5. Bring to a boil
6. Cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thickened.
7. Stir in cheese until melted.
8. Drain pasta.
9. Stir in cheese sauce.
10. Transfer to an ungreased 2 qt. baking dish.
11. Bake, uncovered at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly.
