How To Remove Wax From Glass Jars
How many candles do you have that are half-used?
What do you end up doing with the jars?
I used to have so many candles that I never used. I had to do something about it! Why do you have or keep the candles you do? Do you find yourself keeping it not for the scent, but for the jar? Have you ever considered getting rid of or repurposing the candle, so that you can use the jar?
Trouble is…HOW DO YOU GET THE WAX OUT?
There are a few ways that you can remove wax from glass jars:
1. Freeze the glass jar/candle for a few hours. After frozen, stick a knife into the wax and the wax should pop out of the jar. Be careful to not stab into the glass too hard for you would hate to break the jar!
2. Heat! There are two ways to do this:
- Pour boiling water into the glass jar. The wax should melt instantly and float to the top. Once cooled, you can pick the wax right out of the glass.
- Put the glass jar into the boiling water and the wax should release. Be careful as you take the glass jar out of boiling water – make sure you have the right utensil (like a canning jar grabber) to remove jar.
- White vinegar or olive oil can remove the little bit of wax residue left
- Put glass jar in dishwasher
