Continuing my lengthy 30-Day blog challenge…
Ironically I have an iPod shuffle! Oh about 3 years ago we were at our church’s mission auction and they were auctioning one off. I really wanted it for cleaning b/c it clips onto clothing (but doesn’t have a screen or anything). It is REALLY simple, but that is so me. And we ended up getting it! So, for this post, here are some top songs that are really ON my shuffle.
At the youth ministry conference, there was a newer Christian rap artist there, named Tyrone Andrew. He was phenomenal I thought, so we bought his cd. I have not stopped listening to it since the beginning of March when I got it. Here is his website that offers lyrics and the songs on his cd:

Take Him On
Preach It
I’m Still Here
Shine
I’m Gone
Check out his music because the lyrics are so powerful and the not gonna lie, the beats are very catchy!
Other songs on my iPod…
Lost in this Moment
Party in the USA (yeah, I know, Miley Cyrus :))
Whole Matt Maher cd, Alive Again
Chris Rice’s Living Room Sessions Cd (gorgeous instrumental)
Be Mine (Grits)
Ooh Ahh (Grits)
Saw You Cry (Mandy Moore)
Angel of Mine (don’t know)
International Harvester Song
Dan and I both like Skillet’s Awake & Comatose Cds
To be quite honest, I absolutely love music. I love so many different TYPES of music. Really the only type of music that I do not enjoy listening to is hard metal. Listening to it makes me depressed and angry. So I never listen to it. But really, I enjoy every other type of music. I have realized that I need to keep up with the times because our youth group kids are always talking about the “latest” song and I feel dumb if I don’t know what they are talking about. So I try to stay on top of the Top 40s. Sometimes some of those songs annoy me to no end, but I realize that if I understand what the song is about or even what the song is, I can connect with a kid. It is amazing the conversations that have come out of song lyrics or songs in general. Music speaks to kids – that means we have to understand what the music is speaking TO them and how it may be influencing their life. Music surely is powerful!
I know I have more songs than what is listed on my iPod, but that is just a sampling :).
