Impact, family-style
First off, I will post pictures of the Michigan game when I get them…Katie had the camara and I forgot to download them all while she was still here. Hopefully it’ll be soon! We had such a great time, but I will talk about it when I do that full post.
Today, Impact (middle school group) started up again! We were really looking forward to today b/c we have a new format with this group. Because the max number we will have is 8, we were trying to find a way to maximize our time with them (we had 13 kids move up to Roots). So, Dan thought of the idea of having the kids over for supper, sit around the table – family style, and do our lesson together, much representing a family. It went SO incredibly well tonight! The group dynamics are interesting b/c there are very different personalities, different maturity levels, and just different interests. But it seemed that all of those differences were pushed aside. The kids really bonded and new friendships were made.
We are studying the book of Romans with that group. Yes a deep book you might say, but a book that has so much good information that is vital to the faith, that it just seemed fitting to do with this group. During the lesson the kids seemed intent on listening to Dan, volunteered answers, yet still had fun. It truly felt like “our” family. We love them each so much! At the end we held hands in prayer and I couldn’t help but think – these are my kids.
With that said, we are very excited to see what God is going to do this year! Each month we are going to go to a different leader’s house, just to add some flavor :). And we feel there is much to be learned about someone and relationships are more easily built if you are in the comfort of a home. Much more than sitting on bean bags in a church basement. So, let the adventure begin!
