Mazy Turns 3 Years Old!
Like any parent, you never forget the day your child was born. That day was so special, filled with nothing but pure joy and humbleness, that the girl we prayed for, for so many years, was finally in our arms. To see her grow and turn into the sweetest little girl, brings nothing but joy to our hearts. Words just truly can’t describe it!
This year, Mazy’s birthday was a little different. This is the first time we’ve celebrated her birthday living in the same state as our families and how FUN it was to host a party in our own home, for her. Mazy could not WAIT for her party and every few minutes, she asked if it was time. Just love seeing her excitement! Though too, it made us think about our “families” back in Minnesota, who loved our family as their own. Definitely bittersweet!
And my how she has grown!
When Mazy was born…
6 months old…
1 year old…
18 months old…
2 years old…
Mazy looks like a different little girl from a year ago! I’m waiting for it to get a bit warmer before I take her 3 year old pics, but it goes without saying, she sure has changed a lot! Her little cheeks are quite as chubby and her hair quadrupled in length!
I don’t think Mazy quite understood what it meant that it was her birthday, until we started to talk about her party and the idea of presents! Like I said in a previous post, we are HORRIBLE at keeping gifts under wraps (no pun intended!) So when Mazy kept telling us she wanted a bike, we couldn’t wait any longer and gave it to her a day early. I mean it was a beautiful afternoon anyways…
She had to get her “knife” (scissors) to open the box!
She wanted a bell too and of course a helmet!
She is just a little excited! We actually bought her a 16 inch bike, but it was going to be too big. Some friends of ours had a 12 inch that they said we could borrow, so we decided to take them up on that offer! So thankful we did because this is perfect right now!
We wanted to take Mazy out for breakfast, so she chose one of her favorite places, the Farmhouse. We weren’t really thinking because Mazy doesn’t really eat breakfast, but nevertheless, I think she still had fun and she got her blue sucker! That’s probably all that mattered!
Mazy enjoys making crowns, so I figured it’d be fun to make her a birthday crown. She even took a nap in it!
That smile…
I do not have the gift of cake-making. A friend had asked if she could make a cake for Mazy and I started to tear up to think that someone was willing to do that, especially when Mazy wanted a Paw Patrol cake! What a gift filled with so much love and kindess! The entire way home from picking it up, Mazy kept saying “Mommy, I love my cake!” By looking at these pictures, you can tell that she has a serious gift in cake-making!
As you can tell by her smile, Mazy LOVES it! Throughout the day, Mazy kept asking me to take it off the counter to show her!
Mazy had some birthday money, so we went to the store to choose some fun gifts. She chose a Skye lunch pail for when she pretends to “go to school,” and play-doh (which comes as no surprise to us!) I am not a big shopper, so I wasn’t sure how it would go, when I left the choosing up to her, but she blew me away. I would show her something, like some new sand toys, and she’d say “Mommy, we have sand toys at home.” I’d show her something else and she’d say “Mommy, I don’t need that, maybe next time…” Granted those are words I would say, but she knew what she wanted when she saw it, and didn’t ask for anything more! Just melted my heart!
I feel like this was the first birthday that she realized it was her birthday, which was so fun. She would randomly say, “it’s my birthday” throughout the day. I admit I sung “Happy Birthday” to her a few times because it’s not like these days come that often! I found myself tearing up a bit on the way home from the store, realizing that she is just such a gift. She represents so much of what God has done in our life!
