My 5 Favorite Things On Friday – Edition #11
Last week I shared with you my 5 favorite bathroom items. Well this week, I want to share with you my top 5 makeup items that I use on a daily basis. In writing this post, I realized I only use 5 items when applying makeup, though in the summer, I may add a bronzer. Other than that, These 5 items fit nicely into my little makeup bag that I can easily take in and out of my cupboard every morning and only takes about two minutes to apply.
Now I know some are not makeup wearers and that is JUST fine with me! I enjoy wearing it, since my eyelashes are blonde. Mazy can tell when I don’t wear mascara which makes me laugh, that even my daughter can tell a difference! Also, in my ripe old age of 34 and lack of sleep during Mazy’s first 2 years of life, a concealer never hurt. It would make me look a bit more alive than I probably was at the time!
One should also know that I am NOT a makeup pro. In fact, I am about as uneducated as you can get, while still wearing some makeup. I go for cheap, but also products that work for me. I’m always up for suggestions though! All of these items can be found at your local drugstore for fairly cheap. You know me…I can be rather frugal at times and when it comes to makeup, I am no different! So, here is what I use:
Maybelline Mascara – Great Lash BIG Washable Mascara in Blackest Black – mascara does wonders for my blonde eyelashes! I have tried NUMEROUS other mascaras and bought into what the package said. All to think that my lashes would look volumizing or longer. When in reality, they just clumped and looked shorter. I have found this mascara to be tried and true for me, and on the cheaper end. It’s probably Maybelline’s lowest end of the mascaras, but I find it to work the best!
Wet n Wild Coloricon Eye Shadow Walking On Eggshells No. 380b – I don’t always put on eyeshadow, but when I do, this is what I have been using. Of course I could use a pallet of colors to get the look I want to get, but I wouldn’t know how to apply them all. So, I go for the easy, “tell me where to put it” eyeshadows. Wet n Wild is pretty cheap and I find it to do just fine and get the look I want. A subtle change.
Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation, Soft Beige – I am a huge fan of this liquid concealer, though when it says “Stay Matte,” I would say that’s completely true. I do not use this for my whole face, nor do I put foundation on my whole face. I just use this for under my eyes and eyelids if needed, and it is AWESOME! It has lasted well over a year, if not 2 for me, so I have no clue how much I paid for it, but needless to say, it has gotten the job done! It masks those dark spots under the eyes when needed and even helps my other makeup stay on well too. Highly recommend this!
CoverGirl Trublend Minerals, Loose Powder – Like I said, I do not use a foundation over my whole face, but sometimes I will use this powder to smooth everything out. One thing I don’t like about foundation is that the color of my skin is rarely the same throughout the year, except in the winter for just a short time. In the summer it gets a little glow from the sun and lasts for awhile, the goes back to palest of pales for the winter, then changes again. That means I’d need umpteen different foundations throughout the year, which just isn’t me. So I don’t always wear foundation, but that is just what works for me. Though when I do, I really like this mineral powder, which lasts FOREVER as well! I’ve had this well over a year again and I feel like I haven’t put a dent in it!
Wet n Wild Megalast Retractable Eyeliner, Blackest Black – Finally, eyeliner. Mazy calls this “scratchies” because I use this to put whiskers and a dog nose on her when she asks. So when I put this on, she asks if I am going to put scratchies on. It’s adorable, but no sweetie, just using it for my eyes! Again, the Wet n Wild brand because I’m a little cheap, but it does what I need it to do! I like the retractable since Mazy sometimes plays with it, and it goes on so smooth. I’ve used this for years as well. I’m sure there are other great eyeliners out there, I just haven’t ventured past this one.
What are your go-to makeup items? What are your favorites? What do you use on a daily basis? Any product recommendations? Would love to hear your thoughts!
