My Official Heart Monitor Report
Today I finally heard the “official” results of what my heart monitor said! Since it was so long ago, I will give a brief update on what has been going on over the past few months. In August I had my 6 month routine heart appointment in Grand Rapids. I told my doc that I was feeling real lightheaded, tired, no energy, etc. She took me off my Lisinopril, and put me on a heart monitor, for what was supposed to be 2 weeks.
Well, when I received my EVENT monitor, instead of a halter monitor, the papers said to keep it for a MONTH, so I did. Last week I called and said I never heard the official results and my nurse was like WHAT? Well, apparently Lifewatch never sent my results back to my doctor, so they had to fetch them. Crazy situation and trust me, my nurse was quite upset! I was also supposed to have a halter, not an event monitor. So today my doctor was in the office and her and my nurse reviewed the results.
They said that everything looked good, except just another small rhythm problem, called sinus tachycardia. Basically this is when my heart jumps to a high beating rate. Mine was beating at 140 beats per minute at random, where the average is usually between 60-100 bpm. I was able to capture that on the event monitor and they were to discover what that rapid beating was. I always thought that maybe it was “normal” for me and I would just take really deep breaths to try to get it back down, but I’m glad that they were able to discover what it was. Now hopefully I won’t have those rapid beats and feel even BETTER! They put me on another medication, a half dose, and at night because apparently this medication can make you tired. So they thought nighttime would be the best time to take it – I agree :).
It was great talking to my nurse today…she just explained everything very well and said they want to get to the bottom of why I was feeling what I was feeling. She gave me a couple of phone numbers to call if I ever need to talk to her. She also wants me to call her in a month or 2 to let her know how I am feeling with my new medication. It’s just very comforting to know that though I am just one of their MANY patients, I felt like they really cared. Great feeling I tell ya! So…we’ll see what these next few weeks bring…hopefully I will feel EVEN BETTER!
So, another answer to prayer! I got more answers (why my heart would feel like it’s beating out of my chest at times), felt peace as she explained the new rhythm problem, and am just comforted in knowing I am in good hands :). PRAISE GOD!
