My Secret To Keeping Kids’ Art Supplies Organized
Growing up, I had one crayon box. Maybe I had two later on in life, but I vividly remember my pink box that I took to school every year. Crayons, markers, pencils, and that was it. Pretty simple, huh? Then Crayola got brilliant and created all sorts of writing utensils, like Twistable Crayons, or even Silly Scent Crayons. But can we talk Sharpies for one hot second? I am a lover of all things colorful – especially my writing utensils, and Sharpies are my JAM. So maybe the issue of organizing my daughter’s art supplies wasn’t as much her problem, as it was mine, but where and how do you find an art supply organizer?
Have you wrestled with where to put all the markers, highlighters, colored pencils, dry erase markers, wet erase markers, erasers, scissors, etc.? All I know is that we had a drawer full of coloring items and it was getting to be a bit much. They were all being used, but what if our daughter wanted to just draw a picture without having to take a whole box out? Especially DUMPING the whole box out? I sure remember those days!
Well, somehow I obtained this kitchen utensil organizer. Not sure why or how I obtained it, but after using it as such, I decluttered our kitchen utensils significantly and didn’t need this 360 degree spinning holder anymore. Then I had this idea, “what if I put most of Mazy’s art supply utensils in this instead?” and used it as an art supply organizer? I couldn’t wait to get rid of the boxes and start organizing:
As you can see, we have about everything right in one art supply organizer. And the beauty is that it is TRANSPORTABLE, so if she wants to color in the living or in her bedroom, all she has to do is grab this and voila, she’s back in business.
My beloved Sharpies…
And there has yet to be a time when Mazy wonders where something is because typically, IT’S ALL RIGHT HERE. Mazy can see every color that is available, without having to take them all out. And as for crayons, we just have one 64 count box of crayons that acts as it’s own holder.
Even though I am unable to find the exact one I have, here is basically the same concept so you can SIMPLY organize all of your kids’ art supplies:

After using this for a few years now, I will say, this is BY FAR the simplest way to keep it all organized and at the end of the day, Mazy can play a match game and put everything back where it belongs!
