Stromboli
Can you ever get enough pizza? Pizza is one of those all-American foods. Pizza always seems to be an option. Why not throw a twist on pizza? How about stepping away from the ordinary bottom crust, sauce, cheese, topping recipe to something a little “fun”? Stromboli, no matter how you fold, stuff, or dip it, is a go-to recipe for our family. Quick, tasty, and filling are what describes this simple Stromboli recipe. Plus, you can add or take away ANY ingredients – make the “folded” pizza however your heart desires!
Stromboli {Print Recipe}
Ingredients:
- 2 tubes refrigerated pizza crust
- 2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 c. ricotta
- 4-6 oz. sliced pepperoni
- 2 c. diced ham, fully cooked
- Mushrooms
- Parmesan cheese (opt.)
- Dried basil (opt.)
- Meatless spaghetti sauce, warmed
Directions:
1. Unroll one pizza crust, stretching gently to make a 14×11 rectangle.
2. Spread half of the ricotta on half the dough lengthwise.
3. Sprinkle with half of pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, and mozzarella.
4. Fold unfilled side of dough over filled half and press edges together firmly to seal.
5. Transfer to a greased baking sheet (or lay one side over baking sheet and make to avoid needing to transfer)
6. Repeat with remaining crust and filling ingredients.
7. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. S
8. erve with warm spaghetti sauce for dipping.
Notes: You can also make your own dough using your bread maker or from scratch. If you do not like ricotta, just add more mozzarella cheese. I usually use 2 cups per Stromboli.
ENJOY!
