Simple Uses For Everyday Items: Oats/Oatmeal
Who would’ve ever thought that oatmeal would be one of those “common use” items in your household? Only if you knew how to use it, right?
I love oatmeal in the cold winters here in the north! I would consider it a comfort food for the winter blues. Instead of just eating it, now you can use it many other ways as well!
Simple Uses for Oats/Oatmeal:
1. Do you have a smelly refrigerator? Open up a can or set a container of oatmeal inside to freshen it up.
2. Acne? Make normal “oatmeal” (the plain kind of coarse) and spread it on your face. Let it set for 15 minutes – oatmeal soaks up the oils and exfoliates at the same time.
3. Cheap facial mask? Yes please! Mix 1/2 c. oats, 1/2 c. hot water, 1/4 c. honey. Grind everything in a food processor and let it cool. Apply for 10 minutes.
4. Need more energy? Eat oatmeal 3 hours before you exercise and you should feel an energy boost.
5. Itchy rash or shingles? Make an oatmeal paste and the itch should disappear.
6. Another itch reliever for poison ivy and chicken pox – grind up oats and put in a stocking. Tie stocking onto faucet for a bath, and let warm water run over it. Soak and the itch should soothe.
7. You can reduce the risk of breast cancer by 41% if you have a diet rich in oatmeal and whole grains
Never thought oatmeal could be used for so many different things, did you? Thankfully it is rather cheap and fixes a lot of common issues in life!
