Simple Uses For Everyday Items: Aluminum Foil
Aluminum foil. Oh how I love you when I don’t want to get my pans dirty! Oh how I love you when the covers of my pans do not fit ON the pan! Aluminum foil was a great invention and here are a few more reasons why:
1. Do your pie crust edges get done too early? Try this (I do this for ALL of my pies and it has never failed me!): Before you throw your pie in the oven, wrap about aluminum foil around the edges so they cover about 1-2 inches of your pie crust (if it’s a double crust). With 15 minutes left in baking time, take the aluminum foil off and you will have an evenly done pie crust! If you are using a single crust, you do not need to cover as much of the pie.
2. Is the bottom of your oven caked with food and droppings of who knows what? Keep your oven clean by laying aluminum foil on the bottom rack. When it gets too dirty to even look at, just remove and replace!
3. Is your iron sticking when you are trying to smoothly iron your clothes? Run aluminum foil over it and the stickiness should go away.
4. Painting can be a daunting task – especially when it feels it takes equal amounts of time to clean as it does to do the actual painting. Here’s a tip: line your roller pan with aluminum foil so that when you are done, just remove the foil and the cleaning is done! Another painting tip: wrap your wet paint brush in aluminum foil to keep it wet for use later.
5. Going camping? Wrap your matches in aluminum foil to prevent them from getting wet.
