Simple Uses For Everyday Items: Salt
What do you use salt for most?
I will safely assume that it is probably for food purposes – specifically as a “seasoner.”
Ever wonder what else salt is good for? I am sure you have seen different kinds of salt at your local grocery store and wonder why there are even so many different types of salt? Isn’t salt, just salt?
Well, there are uses for salt that you may never even thought or heard of before.
1. Your waitress puts your cold water or drink on a napkin – you pick it up to take a sip and you quickly put it back down in embarrassment because the napkin is “glued” to the bottom. Solution? Sprinkle some salt on the napkin and your glass will not stick again!
2. Freshen your breath with 1 t. salt, 1 t. baking soda, and 1/2 c. water. Gargle and rinse.
3. Have baked on food? Sprinkle some salt on the area, drop some water on it, and let it set.
4. Mosquito bite itch? Soak it in salt water then rub some vegetable oil on it.
5. Remove those pesky watermarks from wood by mixing 1 t. salt and a little water to make a paste. Rub on watermark until it disappears.
6. Get rid of tea and coffee stains on your mugs by rubbing salt with a cloth on the mark and wipe clean.
7. Fruit turning brown? Cut your fruit as normal, soak quickly in lightly salted water and remove.
8. Want to keep your milk fresh, longer? Add just a tiny bit of salt!
9. Are your hard-boiled eggs too hard to shell? Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water before you add your eggs to boil and the shelling process should go smooth!
Never thought you would appreciate salt so much, right?
