Simple Uses For Ordinary Items: Bottles and Jugs

Bottles and jugs come in all different shapes and sizes. If you need a certain size bottle, it is almost a guarantee that you can find it somewhere. Whether it be glass or plastic, we are not in shortage of them! Unfortunately, many bottles, though recyclable, are thrown away. I hope these ideas on how to use bottles and jugs, gives you reason to either keep them or just to dispose of them appropriately by recycling them.

JUGS and BOTTLES.

1. Are your boots or shoes losing their shape? Put a bottle in them to help them maintain their look over the long months of not wearing them (like boots in the summer)

2. Save your gallon milk jugs and put water in them for road trips, freeze them for ice “packs“, or if you have a well and your toilet doesn’t work when the electricity goes out, have jugs of water ready to flush the necessities.

3. Cut the bottom of a milk jug and use it as a scoop for animal food, to scoop out water, to get leaves out of gutters, you name it. It is a sturdy scoop and you can get recycle it when you are done – no need to feel guilty and hang onto it.

4. Use them to store legos, beads, or other “small” toys. You can put the lid on them when you are done so that they don’t tip over and spill!

5. Cut the bottom of a jug out, flip over, and use as a funnel.

6. Make a bag holder! Cut out the top and bottom of a jug and place your plastic bags in. This helps keep them contained without pulling out every bag in the process when you need one.

7. Looking to water your flowers but don’t want to buy a watering can? Use a jug, cut little holes in it, fill with water, and give your plants new life!

8. Painting and don’t want to ruin your food storage containers? Cut off the bottom of a 2-liter or milk jug and use it as a paint container.

9. Use jugs and bottles for organizing your nails, bolts, tools, etc.

10. Make an anchor by filling it with sand, put the cap on, tie a rope around the handle, and drop anchor!

11. Speaking of boats, use milk jugs as boat bumpers by threading a rope in between the handles and placing them along your boat for protection.
