Simple Ways to Learn More About the Bible + GIVEAWAY
If you know the Sterks, you probably know that we LOVE games. Whether it be board games, cards, or even puzzles, we have quite a collection! So, when I was contacted by Bible Game Central to try out some new games they recently put out on the market, I was game (sorry, pun intended :)).
If you haven’t heard of Bible Game Central’s website, well, it’s just that – THE Bible game central. It has numerous FREE game ideas to play with your family or even church! Each game has learning points and further study ideas to go along with them. They also have games for each age level, including adults. ALL FOR ABSOLUTELY FREE. Check out these Thanksgiving Games you can implement for free, like word searches, Thanksgiving trivia, mad libs, charades, words scrambles, and more! Bible Game Central also offers FREE CHRISTMAS GAMES like Bingo, a scavenger hunt, word search, the left-right game, pictionary, marshmallow stack, and so much more. Bible Game Central is the perfect place to add some fun to your holiday season with family-friendly games and activities.
And when Bible Game Central came out with 4 games of their own, and asked if we would give them a whirl, I couldn’t wait to try them. And I will admit, even though I grew up in the church, I STILL learned a lot, especially in the game, Parable Parade! These games promote Bible truths for all ages. So, allow me to share a bit more about the 4 new Bible games from Bible Game Central:
In this first game, CHRISTMAS BINGO, there are 24 colorful cards with various Christmas-themed illustrations. They are double-sided, adding even more fun! It also includes well-made green Bingo chips and calling cards, that can ALSO be used to play Bible memory! This 2-in-1 game is perfect for our 5-year-old, but was even enjoyed by my husband and I.
Mazy felt we needed to “win” something, so we found 2 starbursts and were snacking on a pack on saltines while playing, so the crackers became our winnings. You can’t play Bingo and not win ANYTHING, right?
Another game we played was PARABLE PARADE. Now if I’m honest, I can easily get my parables mixed up and forget really how many there are! In this fun game, the goal is to collect all 4 cards for a given parable, and collecting 2 sets of 4, wins the game. In a turn, you can draw as many cards as you want, but WAIT! If you draw an OOPSIE card, the tables turn quickly (trust me, I found out too quickly). Do you want to be aggressive or cautious? That’s the tricky part! And once a player has 2 sets, it’s fun to put them in order and try to retell the parable with the 4 cards. Thankfully there are “summary” cards that help phrase the parable in a very practical way. This game has been a GREAT refresher for me and Mazy has already learned so much through the word pictures and summaries, just by simply playing this game.
Here are the summary cards that tell the parable in easy-to-understand terms:
PARABLE PARADE is one of Mazy’s FAVORITE games:
The BIBLE MEMORY GAMES is another fantastic game. It contains 2 decks of 66 cards that illustrate the 66 books of the Bible. And it’s not just your typical memory game. You learn not only the books of the Bible, but the different section that each book is in, with the color bar at the bottom of each card. You can make it as long or as short as you want it to be, while testing your memory. So, you can use cards from just the Old or New Testament, or to make it even easier, a section just of that testament. For example, like the New Testament Gospels or Letters from Paul. This has made it a bit more manageable with our young daughter, but if adults wanted a challenge, I dare you to play with all 66 pairs!
What makes this game even more fun is that each pair has a blue card and a red card. So, if you flipped over “Matthew”, where the back of the card was red, you know that it’s pair would be blue, which makes it a tad easier.
Last, but not least, BIBLE BINGO. We haven’t played this yet, only because we hope to play it with a few more people soon, but again, there is a purpose behind how it was designed. Even the cards themselves show how the Bible is organized, with the different sections that are colored (see below).
This may be the silliest thing to comment about, but the game even comes with a baggie to store the Bingo chips in! I’m telling you, Bible Game Central thought of EVERYTHING.
