That One Thing
As I stated in the previous post, it has been a slower weekend. We tend to get a little antsy at times because we are quite used to the go-go-go mentality, but these past two days have been incredibly rejuvenating.
We were reading our devotional that we are working through at dinnertime (Daily Light by Dobson – HIGHLY recommend) and it was on doing life together. Dan and I have found that we have a lot in common, yet we have enough that we do separately that allows us to have some sort of independency.
One of the questions was “what new activity could you do together to build your companionship?”
We both sat there. We thought.
We realized that most of what we do is together. I told Dan that my new activity for him could be me teaching him to crochet. After we were done laughing we knew that wasn’t going to happen.
That got us thinking about what we love to do together.
Fishing.
When we go fishing, we let everything else in life fades away. We have the opportunity to sit in God’s creation, soak it all in, and just plain fish. We sometimes have the best conversations while fishing. We sometimes have the best laughs while fishing. I usually say something dumb or Dan misses a fish b/c he’s doing something else, and all we can do is just laugh.
We love to go fishing with people too – it is probably one of our most favorite activities. Some of our best conversations with people or friends have been while fishing. God has used fishing to help us build relationships with others and between each other.
What is that one thing in your life that draws you to closer relationships with others? With your husband? Let me know! I feel everyone kind of has their “thing” that they are into. And when you can find that person to enjoy it with you, brings an incredible joy.
Dan is already checking water temps to see when we can start to fish for coho off the pier – yeah, we have to wait a little bit yet. BUT. Our poles are ready!
Guys were fishing Friday afternoon off the pier! I wondered why I didn't see you guys there too!
Mom
WHAT? And we weren't out there :)? We are behind the times!
