We Bought A Mattress From Where?
A few years ago, we were in the hunt for a guest bed. We had recently moved to Minnesota and with the hopes of having visitors from our home state of Michigan, we wanted our home (and bed) to be a place people wanted to come to. Not a place where they dreaded the horrible nights of sleep they would get, due to an uncomfy bed.
When Dan and I got married, we told ourselves that we are going to be spending almost half of our life sleeping in a bed, so we spent money on a quality bed. I know you are supposed to switch out your mattress every “I don’t know how many” years, but nevertheless, we have yet to do so. THOUGH, when we were in search for a guest bed, we weren’t sure we wanted to invest the same amount of money that we did for our bed. I know, kind of selfish that we wouldn’t care about our guests’s sleep as much as we did ours, but we just couldn’t justify spending the same amount on a bed that would be slept in so little.
Insert a conversation I had with my cousin about a mattress they had recently purchased. Believe it or not, he said he bought their’s from Wal-Mart, was delivered rolled up, and though a bit “unconventional” as he said, it was worth it’s weight in gold.
Rolled up? From Wal-Mart? And a memory foam? Hmm….
I did some research and sure enough, this Signature Sleep 12 Inch Memory Foam Queen Mattress (link is from Amazon) had an incredible rating. As in over 7,100 reviews and it had a 4 1/2 star rating. Um, sold for $276.00. And free shipping.
It was delivered as expected – rolled up. We bought a bed frame from Ikea for I think $150. So for well under $500, we now had a guest bed!
We slept on it and it was unlike any bed I had ever slept on. In a good way, that is. I did not feel Dan move around and I slept GREAT. Even better, when we have had guests stay with us, they have all said they liked the bed and often asked where we got it from. And my response? Oh, LET ME TELL YOU! Not going to lie, I am still excited about this purchase that we made now a few years ago! All thanks to the unconventional recommendation from my cousin.
I will say this: If you ever have to move it, there is not much “give” if you will. We put the guest bed in our basement and it was hard to get down a small staircase (like any mattress would be). I would recommend bringing the package down or up the stairs before you unroll it if you can. Mattresses are just those awkward pieces of furniture, no matter how you try to carry them. So don’t expect this one to be any different, even though I could not recommend it more.
If you are in the hunt for a new mattress, I could not speak more highly of this one! Amazon and Wal-Mart sell them for the same price, in case you were wondering.
Sleep well and sleep tight, knowing that there are affordable bed options out there!
Have you tried this mattress before? What are your recommendations?
