We Remember You
Lord, we remember You…
Those are the words from the song “Remembrance” by Matt Redman that I keep repeating over and over in my head today. (For those at that service, you know what I’m talking about). Yesterday as we sat in church, remembering what Christ did for us, I had tears in my eyes so many times, as my emotions reminded me of the love Christ has for me. The pastor talked about the verse in Romans 8 that speaks of God being for us. I went back a few months and wondered to myself, “is God for me?” Even though I felt spritually that I never lost touch with God, I was fearful of what else was going to happen. It sometimes felt like God was not for me, but against me.
The pastor reminded us all, though, that no matter WHAT happens in life, God is FOR US. Just THINK about that! God is continually working for the good of those who love Him and keep His commands. Sometimes in life it feels like the world is caving in. Events happen and we wonder “why God?” Sometimes it feels like He is picking at us slowing, never leaving us alone. Yet I was reminded that oh no Kristin, God IS for me. God is doing all things FOR MY GOOD.
Jesus even asked “my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” You have to wonder if Jesus ever thought “is God for me?” Yet He was God. He knew what it took to bear the sins of us all. And He did it willingly. He walked the road of pain, of suffering, of cruelty, for us. GOD IS FOR US. The pure actions of today (Good Friday), speak of His love and goodness to us. Though today gets me all choked up in thinking of what He did for me, I am still brought to thoughts of His complete care and love.
Are you going through something in your life, where you feel God is against you? Do you lie awake in bed at night, wondering “what next, God?” I have asked those questions before. I don’t regret asking those questions to God because it was in those moments, that God reminded me of His love for His child, Kristin. I too, hope that in those moments, God reminds you that He is FOR YOU.
I praise God for the message last night. I praise God for His goodness. I praise God for being for me.
Tonight as we ponder what occurred on this day, Good Friday, may our lives be a testimony of what He has done for us on the cross!
