What a joy it was to be able to “show” how God continues to bless us with our little miracle and share this joy with family and friends back home! There is a LONG history of many prayers being sent up on behalf of my heart, but also for the possibility of kids. As I heard the words “prayers are being answered” ring through conversations numerous times, I can’t help but throw them back up to our Lord as an offering of Thanksgiving. When I look at the calendar and realize that we are in January now and we still have our baby girl with us, alive and what we know to be well, it just puts us in awe of what God is doing.
Baby: She weighs about 3 pounds now! This Thursday we find out REALLY how big she is, as we have a “growth” ultrasound for her. I can’t wait to see this little pumpkin again! She is very active, as she has her sleep and awake moments. When she’s awake, she’s awake and I spend every moment I can, with my hand on my stomach, feeling her every move. When she is sleeping, I just imagine what she dreams about (yes, they do dream!)
Body: I am feeling so great! Still getting over the sinus infection, but that does not really effect the pregnancy. I am sleeping well at night (I sometimes wake up and lay awake for 30-45 minutes, but that’s okay with me), I am growing like crazy, yet not swelling AT ALL. That is SUCH a blessing as that was one thing the doctors were worried about with my heart. Being in Minnesota, my skin gets very dry in general and with being pregnant, the cocoa butter has been my best friend and does wonders!
Food: I am losing a bit of my appetite, which is a little strange as I can be such a big eater. Smaller meals are more my thing. In fact, the other night Dan and I went out on a “date” with a gift card we had and I wanted steak. I got a little 6 oz. steak and Dan asked why I got such a small one – but honestly, that’s all I could fit in this stomach of mine! She is starting to take up residence where my stomach usually is I think, so smaller meals taste MUCH better. I do get indigestion pretty easily if I eat too much or eat anything greasy, so tums have been my best friend! Thankfully I still enjoy the healthy foods though such as fruits, veggies, and whole grains! And of course a sweet here and there!
Everything Else Baby: The baby room is coming together and things are starting to be put away! I do have to wash all of her clothes, but I figure I have plenty of time for that. I am starting to read more and more about the labor and delivery part, but am not real anxious about it. Probably the biggest thing I am worried about is learning to breastfeed, but thankfully I have a dvd on that from my doctor’s office and youtube videos are always interesting! We’ll give it the good ole try and see how it goes! We are hoping to schedule a tour of the L&D area of the hospital soon since we can’t make any of the classes because of basketball. But I figure a private tour is better anyways! And yes, I am still coaching JV basketball and so far so good! I do get more tired, but like I’ve said before, then I just sleep really well at night! I do not stand as much as I did last year, but I am not the yelling type either, so it suits me just fine. Also, we have received such love already in the form of gifts, cards, and words. Thank you – if this girl only KNEW how much she is loved already!
This is actually a picture taken during week 28, but I figure close enough!
Like I said before, if this girl only knew. Only knew the depth of our love for her. Only knew how much we talk about her. Only knew how much we touch her (although she’s probably figuring that out because we wake her up often I am sure). Only knew how excited her parents are to hold her in our arms!
What a day that will be!
