My husband is out deer hunting for the weekend! He was so eager to get out into the woods – I personally don’t share the same excitement for sitting in the cold, but I do share the same excitement for nature! This is a pretty typical sight for Dan. Now hopefully this “sight” will also mean a deer! He has seen a 6 point, but didn’t have a good shot (I hear because he was cold and was putting on his bibs…). It’s always something!
I am thankful too, that he has been able to find a place and someone who shares the same love he does! Happy hunting Dano!
Basketball season is almost here! November 18 is the official start date here in Minnesota, and I am getting excited! A little apprehensive only because this is such a new experience for me, but I have a WONDERFUL friend who I will be coaching with – so blessed! Last night we had our first basketball party where we didn’t even talk much basketball (except our goals for the year), but more about our desires to see the girls grow in their faith. Basketball is an avenue – not THE avenue. It is an avenue to represent our faith – our beliefs – our values. We are here to serve God. This girl is pumped to get back into basketball and for the challenge that is ahead!
Here we are playing the fish bowl game! It’s not a new game by all means, but a GREAT youth group game! We were excited to hear they play it out here too!
Here’s how to play:
1. Each person writes down 3 nouns (person, place, or thing) on 3 different little sheets of paper. Fold them up and put them in a bowl
2. Number off to create 2 teams.
3. You play 3 rounds, so take one out of the bowl (after they guess it, take another)
-
1st round: Describe the word without using the word
-
2nd round: Can only ACT it out (no words)
-
3rd round: Say ONE word. That is IT. No motions. For example, if the word is “clock”, I could say “time.” By this round, you can remember what words are in the bowl and have an idea of where to go with it.
4. Each person has 45 seconds – 1 minute to try and get as many as they can. So after your team guesses it (let’s say you are a 1, then only the 1’s try to guess it), pick up another piece of paper and try to get as many as you can. After that person goes, a #2 player goes, etc.
5. Have each player keep the pieces of paper they got – at the end of each round, tally up team 1’s total and team #2’s total. At the end of 3 rounds, the team with the highest number wins.
It is a GREAT large group game and would highly recommend it!
In Michigan (at least where we lived) there were a lot of trees. To see the sunset, you had to go to the lake (which was a short hop, skip, and a step away…but still couldn’t go out your backdoor..). Here in Minnesota, everything is SO open! I mean OPEN – those who have been here, you know what I’m talking about! Every night, we can look out our windows and see the sunset. It has been such a blessing to see God’s beauty in the sunsets again! On my walk to work too, I can see the sunrises, so I have the best of both worlds. God is so creative and I think sunrises and sunsets just scream His majesty – don’t you think?
So if Dan gets a deer, trust me, you will be hearing from me!
