Another gorgeous weekend here in Minnesota! A heat wave is now approaching – temps have been in the high 70s for the past couple of weeks! This week it looks like we will be hitting the mid-90s once again. Tis the summer season, so we should expect this!
On Friday, some of our friends invited us to a water ski show in New London. He had won tickets for the “best seats in the house” and they generously took us crazies along! We had a BLAST! We are so blessed to have them as friends! It was a beautiful night to watch some water skiing!
Even though it wasn’t Tommy Bartlett, I have to say I was VERY impressed with their skills! Both Dan and I didn’t know what to expect going into it because we both had only been to a Bartlett show – this was incredible though!
This takes some SERIOUS skill – you should see the strength of some of these guys!
Two peas in a pod! Such a great night with such wonderful friends!
On Saturday Dan and I went fishing on our favorite lake. I decided to stop taking so many fishing pictures because really, they all look the same after awhile! It was a tad windy on the lake, but we still had a blast! I was catching blue gill and bass like none other! We ended up keeping quite a few fish and eating them for supper. Gotta love bringing home food for the table!
One funny story – Dan was using a rod that had an older knot on it and he thought “eh, I will wait to change it out.” Well, he cast out his lure and he didn’t know where the lure went. The lure was just GONE. At least 7 seconds goes by and we are like “what the world?” His line is just dangling.
Those 7 seconds later, all of a sudden we hear “KaplOOSH.” His lure had snapped off his line and that thing went SAILING. I was laughing SO HARD (we were still joking about it today) because we had no clue where it had gone and then all of a sudden “splash.” She was gone! Too bad it didn’t float – suppose we could’ve dove for it because that lake is SO clear, but we thought we’d just let it go. Again, never a dull moment fishing with the Sterks! Stayed in the boat this time though!
Sunday was a wonderful day of relaxing and then at night we headed over to some friend’s house and had a hot dog roast. Yum. I had my first hot dog, bun, and ketchup in a LONG time! And I feel great today! We are just SO blessed to have such caring and loving friends out here! So down to earth that we always feel we fit right in!
As for the elimination diet – I have been reintroducing things at quite a fast pace because I am starting to realize that maybe I just had a weird bug that caused my intestinal issues. I have reintroduced almost everything (not all condiments, jams, peanut butter, etc.), and I have felt great! What a blessing! I really don’t have an explanation as to why I felt the way I did for those two months, but oh well. If nothing shows up, so be it – that means I can eat like a normal person then! I must say, I have learned a lot about how I feel when I eat certain foods and it has helped me become more aware of what I put into my body. For that, I am so thankful. The whole process, though I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, has really taught me a lot and am thankful to have my symptoms cleared!
Hard to believe it is the middle of August already! Shnikees! Where did the summer go? Oh that’s right, we were flying everywhere this past summer and it feels GOOD to be home. I am looking forward to starting my job soon too! Just around the corner!
That about cuts it for our weekend. Nothing too exciting going on, but feeling continually blessed.
